BAYLEY, DAKOTA KAI & IO SHIRAI RETURN AT SUMMERSLAM

SummerSlam 2022 saw the return of many WWE Superstars including Bayley, Io Shirai and Dakota Kai. Shortly after Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch to retain her title, Bayley brought Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky (formerly known as Io Shirai) down to the ring to confront Belair. The three made their way into the ring, but as Bayley berated Belair, Lynch stepped in to back up her former rival. The WWE Universe exploded as they expected a brawl to erupt, but Bayley, Kai, and SKY chose to retreat.

Bayley has been out of action since last summer after she tore her ACL while working out in the WWE Performance Center. Iyo Sky (Shirai) was also injured and her contract was set to expire soon as there were no plans apparently for her in NXT after recovering from her injury. Dakota Kai was released from WWE this past April and rumor had it that Triple H was making it a priority to bring Kai back. She did receive several tryouts for the main roster before her release. Apparently she had been training at the WWE Performance Center for the past few weeks and her return was a surprise as she was spotted backstage only minutes before her SummerSlam entrance.

WWE fans were also shocked to see Edge return for revenge at tonight’s pay-per-view. Edge returned during the No Disqualification match between The Mysterios and Finn Balor and Damian Priest.
