WWE DAY 1 MATCH CARD
The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) (c) vs The New Day (Kofi Kingston and King Woods). Tag team match for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
WINNER: THE USOS
OUR RATING: 6/10
As expected, this was a really good match but it felt so repetitive. We have seen this match so many times and people are starting to get tired of it. Yes, it was a good opener and both teams looked good but it was so hard to care. The Usos hit Kofi Kingston with the 3D for the win.
Drew McIntyre vs Madcap Moss (with Happy Corbin). Singles match
WINNER: DREW MCINTYRE
OUR RATING: 6/10
This rivalry sucks. But, the match was actually better and longer than expected. Drew McIntyre got most of the offense but he didn’t destroy Moss like we expected him to. Moss kept up with McIntyre but in the end he eventually lost after a great showing. He lost to a Claymore Kick after around 9 minutes into the match. The match was really nothing special though – just something to watch at the time with no reason to go back to it.
RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) (c) vs The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford). Tag team match for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
WINNER: RK-BRO
OUR RATING: 5/10
This match wasn’t good. It felt so pointless. The Migos were also a dumb edition to this match. It just felt like they could have done so much more but never got the chance. The match ended with a pop up RKO for the win. Overall a pretty boring match which isn’t what you would expect from these two amazing teams.
Edge vs The Miz (with Maryse). Singles match
WINNER: EDGE
OUR RATING: 7/10
This match was actually pretty good. It did feel a bit underwhelming though as it just felt like a normal Miz match. It was still good and it helps that the story was really fun leading up to the match. Beth Phoenix coming back was really cool. The mixed tag team match they’re setting up will also be fun. The match was okay and Edge won with a distraction from Beth Phoenix. Overall, this match was fun and the most entertaining of the night so far.
Becky Lynch (c) vs Liv Morgan. Singles match for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship
WINNER: BECKY LYNCH
OUR RATING: 8/10
This was a pretty good match and was probably Liv Morgan’s best title match in her career so far. Liv looked dominant most of the match too and actually dominated most of it. Liv brought the match outside the ring and even hit Lynch on the steps. But the much smarter Lynch reversed it and gained control of the match. After a close battle, Becky Lynch won with the Manhandle Slam. This was a really good match and the two really told a great story. Second best match of the night.
Brock Lesnar vs Big E (c), Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Bobby Lashley (with MVP). Fatal five-way match for the WWE Championship
WINNER: BROCK LESNAR
OUR RATING: 9/10
This was the shortest match on the card due to the last-minute addition of Lesnar. But it definitely was the best match of the night. It was all chaos in the best way possible. The talent made use of every minute they had and Brock winning was the right option. Sadly, Big E probably won’t get the belt again but this was the right call in the end. Overall, an awesome match with so much action and it set up the dream match of Bobby Lashley vs Brock Lesnar. Best match of the night.
