BRAUN STROWMAN

Adam Scherr is a 37-year-old professional wrestler and strongman from Scherrills Ford, North Carolina. Scherr is currently signed to WWE and performs on SmackDown. He is known as Braun Strowman.

In college, Scherr played semi-professional football for four years and in the late 2000s, he pursued amateur strongman competitions. In 2011, Scherr earned his Strongman Corporation (ASC) Professional Card after winning the NAS Amateur National Championships. He also won the Arnold Amateur Strongman Championships in March 2012.

WWE Contract

In early 2013, he signed a developmental contract with WWE and was assigned to the WWE Performance Center in Florida. He adopted the ring name, Braun Stowman. Stowman made his professional wrestling debut in 2014 at an NXT live event where he defeated Chad Gable. In 2015, he appeared on a Main Event taping defeating an unidentified wrestler.

On August 24 2015, with a tweaked ring name of Braun Strowman, he made his main roster debut on the RAW brand attacking Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. He established himself as the newest member of the Wyatt Family alongside Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. He had his first singles televised match on August 31 against Dean Ambrose who he beat by disqualification.

WWE Singles Competition

In 2016, Strowman separated from the Wyatt Family after being drafted to RAW while they remained on SmackDown. He started his singles career and was undefeated. He feuded with Sami Zayn throughout 2016 and defeated Zayn in a last man standing match in January 2017. Strowman’s first loss by pinfall occured at Fastlane in 2017.

In 2017’s WrestleMania 33, Strowman competed in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, but failed to win. During a match in April 2017 against Big Show, Strowman performed a super-plex on Big Show off the ropes which caused the ring to implode and collapse. WWE announced later that Strowman had a shattered elbow and would be out of action for six months. Strowman underwent surgery but returned two months later in a surprise attack on Roman Reigns. This led to the ambulance match at Great Balls of Fire which Strowman won.

At SummerSlam 2017, Strowman challenged Brock Lesnar for his Universal Championship but failed to capture the title. He faced Lesnar again in September at No Mercy but lost.

In 2018, Strowman, even though he didn’t have a partner, won a tag team battle royal to determine the number one contenders for the RAW Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 34. At WrestleMania, Strowman chose a young fan in attendance named Nicholas to be his partner (in reality, son of referee John Cone). The duo then defeated champions Cesaro and Sheamus. This was Strowman’s first championship in the WWE and Nicholas was the youngest champion of any kind in WWE history. They relinquished the titles the following night on RAW due to Nicholas’ ‘schedule constraints.’

Royal Rumble Record

At the Greatest Royal Rumble match in Saudi Arabia, Strowman won the match and broke the record for most eliminations in a Royal Rumble match with 13 overall. From there, Strowman feuded with Kevin Owens and then won the Men’s Money in the Bank match in June. He cashed in the Money in the Bank contract in September but was unsuccessful in defeating Brock Lesnar since the match was proclaimed ‘no contest.’

In 2019, Strowman became involved in a storyline with Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost and Michael Che who would be special correspondents at WrestleMania 35. During a backstage segment, Strowman attacked Jost after he questioned the legitimacy of professional wrestling. Strowman announced that he would compete in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and challenged Jost and Che to enter the battle royal. At the kickoff show, the battle royal took place where Strowman won the match after last eliminating Jost. Strowman broke another record of the most eliminations at 14 overall.

RAW Tag Team Championship

In August, Strowman teamed with Seth Rollins and they defeated Gallows and Anderson for the RAW Tag Team Championships. They lost the titles the following month at Clash of Champions.

At the 2019 WWE draft, Strowman was drafted to SmackDown. On January 31, 2020, Braun Strowman defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and won the Intercontinental Championship. Strowman lost the title to Sami Zayn in a 3-on-1 handicap match at Elimination Chamber.

At WrestleMania 36, Braun Strowman defeated Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship title. Strowman successfully defended his title but at SummerSlam he lost the championship to Bray Wyatt ending his title reign at 141 days. Strowman attempted to regain his title at Payback but was unsuccessful.
