THE ROCK & ROMAN REIGNS ALIGN ON WWE SMACKDOWN
THE ROCK JOINS REIGNS & THE BLOODLINE
At the end of Friday night’s episode of SmackDown, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was introduced by his cousin, Roman Reigns, as the newest member of the Bloodline. WWE fans will recall that The Rock came out of retirement and made his return on the Day 1 edition of RAW. The Rock has not appeared on WWE’s RAW since 2016. At his return, The Rock asked fans if he should sit at “The Head of the Table.” This was of course a direct shot at his cousin, Roman Reigns, who is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
A month later, on the February 2nd episode of SmackDown, The Rock returned and confronted Roman Reigns in an intense showdown. During the WrestleMania XL media event on February 8th, The Rock flipped and sided with Reigns. After Cody Rhodes spoke against the Anoaʻi family, The Rock slapped Rhodes and announced that he chose his cousin’s side, Roman Reigns. This marked the first time The Rock was a heel since 2003.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has won the WWE Championship eight times. He is a former two-time WCW Champion and also won the WWF Intercontinental Championship twice. The Rock was also a five-time WWE Tag Team Champion with superstars Mick Foley, The Undertaker and Chris Jericho.
Roman Reigns has now held on to the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship for over 1200 days and counting.
What role will Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson play at WrestleMania XL? Stay tuned for more details.
