Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah win WWE Women's Tag Team Championship

On tonight’s episode of RAW, Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah defeated Dakota Kai and IYO SKY to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team champions. Their win comes after weeks of battling it out in a tournament plagued with problems for the vacant titles. In the first round Rodriguez and Aliyah defeated Shotzi and Xia Li. Then in the semi-finals, they defeated Natalya and Sonya Deville to advance to the finals. Meanwhile, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY beat Dana Brooke and Tamina in the first round after finishing off Asuka and Alexa Bliss in the semi-finals.

During tonight’s match, Raquel Rodriguez did a lot of the heavy lifting but in the end, Aliyah surprised Dakota Kai with a roll up pin victory. Tonight’s win marks the first time WWE has had women’s tag team champions since May 20. Fans will recall Sasha Banks and Naomi won the titles in a Fatal Four-Way at WrestleMania 38. However, Naomi and Banks walked out on WWE during the May 16th episode of RAW due to creative disputes. WWE vacated the titles at that point.
