WWE’S VINCE MCMAHON ALLEGEDLY PAID $3M TO EX-EMPLOYEE
WWE’s Board Investigating McMahon’s ‘Hush Pact’
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is under investigation by the WWE Board for paying a $3 million settlement to a former employee with whom he allegedly had an affair. Joe Palazzolo and Ted Mann of the Wall Street Journal broke the news today.
Apparently, Vince McMahon agreed to pay the former employee $3 million total over the course of five years. The woman was hired as a paralegal in 2019 by WWE. According to the Wall Street Journal article:
“The board’s investigation, which began in April, has unearthed other older nondisclosure agreements involving claims by former female WWE employees of misconduct by Mr. McMahon and one of his top executives, John Laurinaitis, the head of talent relations at WWE, the people said. The Journal couldn’t determine how many previous agreements were being scrutinized.”
The article also stated that WWE’s Board received anonymous emails describing the $3 million settlement. The settlement was supposedly paid for by Vince McMahon with his own money. The email’s author, a friend of the employee, said when the paralegal was first hired by WWE, she was given a $100,000 salary. Her salary then rose to $200,000 after she started a sexual relationship with Vince McMahon.
WWE has stated that it is cooperating fully with the inquiry and that McMahon’s relationship with the ex-paralegal was consensual.
