WWE’S QUEEN OF THE RING TOURNAMENT

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is reportedly planning a “Queen of the Ring” tournament that will begin in October. Andrew Zarian of The Mat Men Podcast first reported that the tournament will begin on the Oct. 8 edition of Friday Night SmackDown and the Oct. 11 edition of Monday Night RAW. The tournament is a spinoff of WWE’s King of the Ring tournament but it will be an all-women tournament.

WWE’s King of the Ring tournaments started in 1985 as an annual event but the tournament became more sporadic starting in the mid-2000s. The last King of the Ring tournament was held in 2019 – the first held in four years and was won by Baron Corbin. King of the Ring was not held last year but Baron Corbin did lose his title of “King Corbin” recently to Shinsuke Nakamura on Friday Night SmackDown.
