CESARO LEAVES WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT

Cesaro

Sad news for WWE fans this week with the news that Cesaro will not be returning to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Cesaro, whose real name is Claudio Castagnoli, apparently turned down WWE’s one year contract extension offer. As a result, this means that Castagnoli is free to work wherever he chooses, including All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Various websites, including Fightful Select, confirmed that Cesaro had been working on this one year contract extension. WWE had attempted to get him to sign the new deal but Cesaro declined. Though Cesaro was to be included in upcoming WWE events, his reluctance to re-sign with the company was the reportedly the reason for WWE failing to push him.

Since signing with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2011, Cesaro has held numerous titles with the company. He won the WWE Championship once as well as the RAW Tag Team Championship title twice. He was also a title holder of the RAW Tag Team Championship five times. Cesaro was also the inaugural winner of the André the Giant Memorial Trophy in 2014.
