Roxanne Perez is the new WWE NXT Women’s Champion.
At last weekend’s NXT pay-per-view event, Deadline, Perez won the first-ever NXT Iron Survivor Challenge, earning her a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship against Mandy Rose. On Tuesday night’s episode of NXT, Perez came down to the ring to talk about her Iron Survivor Challenger win but was interrupted by Grayson Waller. Bron Breakker chased Waller away from the ring but Perez was then jumped from behind by Mandy Rose. After she recovered, Perez said that she didn’t want to wait for New Year’s Evil and wanted her match that night. Mandy Rose agreed, setting up the main event for later in the show.
Perez used her technical skills to get Mandy Rose down but the champion countered and tossed Perez into the steel steps. Mandy Rose capitalized on the hurting Perez and worked over her hurting arm and back. But Perez continued to fight through the pain at one point hitting a hurricanrana on the champion. Rose didn’t give up though and managed to trap Perez in a crossface. Perez countered, but Rose followed it up with a Kiss from a Rose, but Perez mustered up enough energy to kick out. As the match continued, Roxanne Perez hit Rose with a kick that made her stagger long enough to hit Pop Rox to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
Mandy Rose’s title reign ended after 413 days. She had defeated Raquel Gonzalez for the title at NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver Night on April 7th, 2021.
