WWE CLASH AT THE CASTLE 2022 RECAP & REVIEW

Gunther vs Sheamus at Clash at the Castle 2022

CLASH AT THE CASTLE 2022 MATCH CARD

Damage Control (Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky) defeated Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka. Six-woman tag team match

OUR PREDICTION: DAMAGE CONTROL
WINNER: DAMAGE CONTROL
RATING: 7/10

This was a fun match to kick off the show. They just put six talented women out there and told them to do what they do best. Throughout the match everyone got their time to shine, but it was clear that the focus was on Bayley and Bianca Belair. The match was full of fast-paced action, but there was a lack of real big spots throughout the match. To finish off, Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, and Bayley all hit Bianca Belair with their finishers with Bayley pinning Bianca Belair for the win. A good match to kick off the show, with Damage Control looking strong.

Gunther (c) (with Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci)) defeated Sheamus (with The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch)). Singles match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

OUR PREDICTION: GUNTHER
WINNER: GUNTHER
OUR RATING: 9/10

This match turned out to be even better than we thought it would be it was definitely our favourite match of the night. This was a war with both men walking out stronger than they looked going in. Gunther was in control throughout most of the match, but Sheamus also got a lot of offense during the beginning of the match. Gunther retained the title with a clothesline and a powerbomb for the win.

Liv Morgan (c) defeated Shayna Baszler. Singles match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

OUR PREDICTION: LIV MORGAN
WINNER: LIV MORGAN
OUR RATING: 4/10

This was a disappointing match. Shayna should be booked like an unstoppable monster, but she was beaten by Liv Morgan and didn’t really have a chance of winning. But Shayna didn’t look strong in defeat either. Liv Morgan did need this win here though as this was her first title defense that was a clean pinfall instead of shenanigans happening. Neither woman should have lost tonight, so they shouldn’t have booked this match in the first place. It was still an alright match though, Liv Morgan retained with an ObLivion for the win.

Edge and Rey Mysterio (with Dominik Mysterio) defeated The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and Damian Priest) (with Rhea Ripley). Tag team match

OUR PREDICTION: JUDGEMENT DAY
WINNER: EDGE & REY MYSTERIO
OUR RATING: 7/10

We really didn’t have many expectations for this match heading into it, but it was fun. Edge looked really good in this match, with surprisingly fast movements compared to his past few matches. The only downside here was the winning team. Judgment Day still seem like a joke, as they can never get themselves important victories, especially when they need them. Edge hit a 619 in this match which was really cool to see though. Edge won the match for his team after hitting Balor with a spear.

Seth “Freakin” Rollins defeated Matt Riddle. Singles match

OUR PREDICTION: SETH ‘FREAKIN’ ROLLINS
WINNER: SETH ‘FREAKIN’ ROLLINGS
OUR RATING: 8/10

This was so close to being the best match of the night but Sheamus and Gunther beat it. Riddle had control throughout the match but Rollins played mind games with Riddle. This felt like a personal match between two people who really wanted to hurt each other, which is exactly what a match like this needed. This storyline will hopefully culminate at Extreme Rules with Riddle getting his win back. Rollins won the fast-paced match after hitting Riddle with a stomp for the win.

Roman Reigns (c) defeated Drew McIntyre. Singles match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

OUR PREDICTION: ROMAN REIGNS
WINNER: ROMAN REIGNS
OUR RATING: 8/10

Another great match on the show tonight – it had everything. Roman and Drew showed off the chemistry they’ve always had together in the ring, and it was a chaotic mess in a good way. The Usos got involved, Austin Theory tried to cash in before getting knocked out by Tyson Fury, and Solo Sikoa made his main roster debut to cost McIntyre the titles. But we can’t help but feel like McIntyre deserved his moment in front of live crowds. Now the real question is who will be the one to dethrone Roman Reigns for the titles? Great match to end the show.
