SHANE MCMAHON RELEASED FROM WWE
Multiple websites are reporting that Shane McMahon has been let go from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Apparently, Shane’s surprise return at the 2022 Royal Rumble caused backlash online and backstage. McMahon entered the Men’s 30-Man Royal Rumble Match as competitor number 28. He managed to eliminate his long-time rival Kevin Owens to make it to the final three. McMahon was eliminated over the top rope by the Rumble’s eventual winner, Brock Lesnar.
Shane was also among those involved in producing the Royal Rumble match which caused “a lot of heat.” It is now being reported that Shane has left the company altogether and planned matches featuring him at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 38 have been scrapped.
Shane McMahon, who is the son of WWE CEO Vince McMahon, hasn’t performed in-ring since his last bout at WrestleMania 37 where he battled Braun Strowman in cage match in April 2021. He first became an on-screen performer in the late 1980s when he worked as a referee. McMahon, 52, then began performing as an on-screen personality during WWE’s “Attitude Era” in the late 1990s. Eventually, Shane McMahon began performing in-ring in many notable matches and had a legendary feud with Kurt Angle.
Shane McMahon also served several backstage roles in executive and productive positions. During his in-ring career with WWE, he won the European, tag team and hardcore championship titles.
