Wrestling Legend Butch Reed Passes Away at 66

Former WWE Superstar Butch Reed passed away on Friday, February 6, 2021 at the age of 66. Reed’s death was announced on his official Instagram account today that he passed away due to heart complications. Just four days ago, another post on his Instagram account stated that he had suffered two massive heart attacks in 2021.

Reed played college football at the University of Central Missouri and played for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs briefly. Butch Reed was best known by wrestling fans for his work with WWE (then WWF) from 1986 to 1988. He then began wrestling for WCW from 1988 to 1992.

During his time with the WWE, he was known as “The Natural” Butch Reed. While he never won any titles, Butch Reed did wrestle at WrestleMania III and IV and he was also part of the first-ever Royal Rumble match in 1988.
