ROYAL RUMBLE 2021 RECAP & REVIEWS
WWE’s 2021 Royal Rumble was a professional wrestling pay-per-view and WWE Network event produced by WWE for its RAW and SmackDown brand divisions. It aired on January 31st, 2021.
ROYAL RUMBLE MATCHES
Drew McIntyre (c) vs Goldberg. Singles match for the WWE Championship
OUR PREDICTION: GOLDBERG
WINNER: DREW MCINTYRE
RATING: 3/10
RECAP: A really short opening match. It was not the best match by far and was just finishing move after finishing move over and over again. Nothing about this match was good except for the outcome with Drew McIntyre winning and Goldberg raising his arm. There isn’t really much to say about this match and it was by far the worst of the night.
Sasha Banks (c) vs Carmella (with Reginald) Singles match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
OUR PREDICTION: SASHA BANKS
WINNER: SASHA BANKS
RATING: 7/10
RECAP: Another really good showing by Carmella. She has really improved in the ring since her return and Reginald makes things a lot more interesting as well. The match had some really cool moves and Reginald was removed half way through the match. The match ended with Sasha Banks locking in the Bank Statement submission hold. Overall a good match that should have been the opener.
Women’s Royal Rumble Match
OUR PREDICTION: BIANCA BELAIR
WINNER: BIANCA BELAIR
RATING: 8/10
RECAP: There were some cool spots in this match and some surprises as well such as Naomi returning. Bianca Belair ended up winning the women’s royal rumble match after entering as competitor #3. She had 4 eliminations – she eliminated Bayley, Natalya, Charlotte Flair and finally, Rhea Ripley in the end. The match had Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley team up to eliminate Charlotte and then Bianca Belair eliminated Rhea Ripley to win the whole thing. Overall, probably the best women’s Royal Rumble we have seen and Bianca Belair is a great winner!
Roman Reigns (c) (with Paul Heyman) defeated Kevin Owens. Last Man Standing match for the WWE Universal Championship
OUR PREDICTION: ROMAN REIGNS
WINNER: ROMAN REIGNS
RATING: 9/10
RECAP: Probably the best match of the night! Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns had some really good spots. The match involved forklifts, golf carts and fighting in the virtual crowd. Roman Reigns was dominant for most of the match but Kevin Owens almost won by handcuffing Roman Reigns to the ground. Roman knocked out the referee and Paul Heyman unhooked Roman from his handcuffs. Roman then locked in the guillotine submission on Kevin Owens to win the match. Overall this was the best match on the show and had spots that they will be showing for years to come.
Men’s Royal Rumble Match
OUR PREDICTION: DANIEL BRYAN
WINNER: EDGE
RATING: 8/10
RECAP: Edge entered as number 1 with Randy Orton entering as number 2. Randy was taken to the back at the beginning of the match. In this match there were returns and surprises such as The Hurricane, Damien Priest, Seth Rollins, Kane, Carlito and the returning Christian. The final four were Edge, Seth Rollins, Christian and Braun Strowman. Christian and Braun Strowman were eliminated at the same time. Edge then eliminated Seth Rollins to win but Randy Orton came to the ring since he was not officially eliminated. Edge then eliminated Randy and managed to get in three eliminations – Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman and Randy Orton. Overall, another great Royal Rumble match that will be remembered for a long time.
