Former WWE Wrestler Luke Harper Passes Away
Professional wrestler Jon Huber passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Huber is best known to WWE fans as Luke Harper and as Mr. Brodie Lee on All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He was only 41 years old.
News broke of Huber’s passing after his wife, Amanda, posted on her Instagram revealing that the AEW wrestler had died from complications with a non-COVID-related lung issue.
Huber was born on December 16, 1979 in Rochester, New York. He began his professional wrestling career in 2003 and wrestled on the independent circuit until 2012. Huber signed with the WWE in 2012 and was sent to WWE’s developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), before debuting in NXT as a member of The Wyatt Family.
During his career with WWE, he held the NXT Tag Team Championship once with Erick Rowan. He was also the WWE Intercontinental Championship one time and held the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship twice with Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton and Rowan. As Luke Harper, he also won a Slammy Award for Match of the Year in 2014 in Team Cena vs. Team Authority at Survivor Series.
Huber left WWE in December 2019 and made his AEW debut in March 2020 as “Mr.” Brodie Lee. He revealed himself to be “The Exalted One”, the previously anonymous leader of The Dark Order faction, and won the AEW TNT Championship in August of 2019.
