WWE announced today that Zelina Vega was released from her contract today. Vega was informed of her release late this afternoon.
The statement from WWE read:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of Zelina Vega,” the statement read. “We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
Rumor has it that Vega’s release may have something to do with WWE prohibiting its in-ring talent from running their own social media accounts through third-party websites like YouTube and Twitch. Several stars like Vega, A.J. Styles, Vega’s husband Aleister Black, have built large followings on these platforms independent from what they’ve accomplished on WWE programming.
Vega will be under the traditional 90-day non-compete clause, which would keep her from appearing on TV for any other promotion through mid-February 2021.
