Leon Ruff Defeats Gargano for NXT North American Title

Leon Ruff is the new WWE NXT North American champion. Ruff pulled off a huge win on tonight’s NXT episode when he defeated reigning NXT North American champion, Johnny Gargano. Former NXT North American Champion, Damian Priest was watching the match at ringside and distracted Gargano briefly in order to help Ruff win the title.

Leon Ruff signed with WWE in July 2020 and this is his first title win with the company. He has appeared on RAW, SmackDown, NXT, Main Event, and made his 205 Live debut on Friday, November 6th, 2020.

Ruff began his wrestling training for World Wrestling Alliance 4 (WWA4) Wrestling School in Atlanta, Georgia. He was trained by EVOLVE Champion, AR Fox. He made his professional wrestling debut in the summer of 2017 and during his first year, he worked for the World Wrestling Network (WWN) umbrella with Full Impact Pro and American Combat Wrestling (ACW). Ruff has also wrestled for EVOLVE and held the promotion’s tag team championship title alongside AR Fox in 2019.
