Former WWE Superstar, Wade Barrett, has signed a full-time contract with the WWE to become a permanent member of the NXT broadcast team. On August 26, 2020, Barrett had returned to WWE’s NXT in a single appearance and had become a regular color commentator in recent weeks because former lead announcer Mauro Ranallo was released by the WWE after both sides mutually agreed to part ways.
Barrett confirmed this in an interview with Sports Illustrated on September 16, 2020. “I hope this lasts for a long time, that’s our intent,” Barrett told Sports Illustrated. “So there is no bad news to share, but never forget, there is always a little bad news up my sleeve.”
Barrett’s new deal with WWE is for one year with an option to extend the deal.
