Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard and his 10-year-old son were among a group of swimmers caught in a strong rip current at Marina del Rey beach in Venice Beach, California. A witness at the scene reported hearing Shad instruct lifeguards to save his son first before disappearing under water. The US Coast Guard searched 70 square nautical miles in an effort to find Shad before calling off the search. Gaspard’s body was found washed ashore on May 20, 2020 and was identified by the Los Angele’s County coroner’s office.
Shad Gaspard was signed to a developmental contract with the WWE in 2005. He wrestled as a single and later partnered with fellow WWE Superstar, JTG in 2008 to form the tag team, Cryme Tyme.
