Alliance with Roman Reigns & The Bloodline (2020–2022)
In 2020, Jimmy suffered a knee injury, forcing Jey into singles action. Jey earned a Universal Championship match against his cousin Roman Reigns at Clash of Champions 2020, marking his first singles main-event opportunity. Though Jey lost, the storyline deepened with their brutal Hell in a Cell “I Quit” Match, where Jey was forced to acknowledge Roman as “The Tribal Chief.”
After aligning with Reigns, Jey became a cornerstone of The Bloodline faction. He won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the WrestleMania SmackDown special in 2021, further solidifying his singles success. Later that year, Jimmy returned from injury, and The Usos reunited under Roman’s leadership.
At Money in the Bank 2021, they defeated The Mysterios to capture the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, beginning a reign that would eventually make them the longest-reigning tag team champions in WWE history.
Record-Breaking Tag Team Championship Run (2021–2023)
The Usos continued their dominance, unifying the RAW and SmackDown Tag Team Titles by defeating RK-Bro on May 20, 2022, in a “Winner Takes All” match.
By November 2022, The Usos had surpassed both The New Day and Gallus’ records, officially becoming the longest-reigning male tag team champions in WWE history with a reign of 622 days.
At Survivor Series: WarGames 2022, The Bloodline defeated The Brawling Brutes, Drew McIntyre, and Kevin Owens inside WarGames, solidifying their dominance as WWE’s top faction.
The Bloodline Civil War (2023)
Tensions within The Bloodline began in early 2023. At Royal Rumble 2023, Sami Zayn betrayed Roman Reigns, and Jey Uso hesitated to side with The Bloodline. The conflict escalated until Money in the Bank 2023, where The Usos defeated Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in a “Bloodline Civil War” tag team match. Jey pinned Reigns, marking Roman’s first pinfall loss since 2019.
At SummerSlam 2023, Jey challenged Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. However, his brother Jimmy shockingly betrayed him, costing Jey the match and ending his dream of becoming “The Tribal Chief.”
On SmackDown (August 2023), Jey superkicked Roman, Solo, and Jimmy before declaring he was “quitting WWE.”
RAW Move & Tag Team with Cody Rhodes (2023–2024)
Jey returned at WWE Payback 2023, appearing on The Grayson Waller Effect with Cody Rhodes, who revealed that Jey had been traded from SmackDown to RAW.
Soon after, Jey was courted by The Judgment Day, but he refused to join, instead forming an alliance with Rhodes.
At Fastlane 2023, Jey and Cody defeated Finn Bálor and Damian Priest to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. Though they lost the titles just nine days later, Jey’s partnership with Cody further established him as a top star on RAW.
At Survivor Series: WarGames 2023, Jey teamed with Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, and Randy Orton to defeat Judgment Day and Drew McIntyre. In December 2023, Jey challenged Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, though he came up short.
Jey Uso’s Road to Championship Glory (2024–2025)
At WrestleMania XL Night 1 on April 6, 2024, Jey Uso scored a career-defining victory by pinning his brother Jimmy Uso. The next night, he made headlines again by spearing Jimmy through a table during the main event between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. On Raw, Uso earned a spot as the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash France by winning a fatal four-way match, but he was unsuccessful against Damian Priest due to interference from The Judgment Day.
King of the Ring and Money in the Bank
Uso’s momentum continued as he entered the King of the Ring tournament, defeating Finn Bálor and Ilja Dragunov before falling short in the semifinals against Gunther. On June 17, he qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match, though the briefcase ultimately went to Drew McIntyre.
Intercontinental Championship Victory
Later that year, Uso won a fatal four-way match to become the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship. On September 23, 2024, he defeated Bron Breakker to capture his first singles championship. The victory also made Jey and his father Rikishi the second father-son duo in history to hold the Intercontinental Title.
Title Defense and Bloodline Conflict
After one successful title defense against Xavier Woods, Uso’s reign ended just 28 days later when Breakker, with help from The Bloodline, regained the championship. Despite the setback, Jey reunited with Jimmy and Roman Reigns to oppose Solo Sikoa’s new version of The Bloodline, leading to high-profile matches at Crown Jewel and Survivor Series WarGames in late 2024.
Royal Rumble Triumph in 2025
Uso’s career reached another milestone in early 2025. On January 25 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, he challenged Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship but came up short. One week later, however, he entered the 2025 Royal Rumble as entrant #20 and won the match by eliminating John Cena. On February 10, Uso confirmed that he would face Gunther again at WrestleMania 41.
World Heavyweight Championship Reign
On April 19, 2025, at WrestleMania 41 Night 1, Jey Uso defeated Gunther via submission in the opening match to capture his first world championship. His reign included a dramatic defense against Seth Rollins on May 5, followed by a rivalry with Logan Paul and John Cena.
At Money in the Bank on June 7, Uso teamed with Cody Rhodes to defeat Cena and Paul, but just two nights later, he lost the World Heavyweight Championship back to Gunther, ending his reign at 51 days.
King of the Ring and SummerSlam Return
Uso went on to compete in the King of the Ring tournament. He advanced to the semifinals before losing to Cody Rhodes. At SummerSlam 2025, he teamed with a returning Roman Reigns to defeat Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
