JE’VON EVANS

Malachi Jeffers is a 21-year-old professional wrestler currently signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He performs on WWE’s NXT brand under the ring name, Je’Von Evans.

Jeffers began his wrestling training in 2018 in North Carolina. He made his debut on January 26, 2018 at just 13 years old under the ring name, Kid Blacka Merica. He changed his ring name to Jay Malachi in January 2019.

On August 21, 2022, he debuted in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in a match taped for AEW Dark, where he lost to Fuego Del Sol. Jeffers achieved his biggest success on the independent circuit in Deadlock Pro-Wrestling, where he held the DPW Worlds Championship. He vacated the title on November 2, 2023, after signing with WWE.

Je’Von Evans Signs with WWE

In November 2023, it was reported that Jeffers had signed a developmental contract with WWE. He was assigned to the NXT brand. Under the ring name Je’Von Evans, he made his in-ring debut on the February 16, 2024, episode of NXT Level Up. At his debut, he faced Brooks Jensen in a losing effort.

In April 2023, Evans made his official NXT debut by defeating SCRYPTS on the weekly NXT program. The following week, he faced NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov in a non-title match. Although Evans lost, he earned Dragunov’s respect, culminating in a post-match handshake.

Je’Von Evans Wins Battle Royal

On the June 18, 2024, episode of NXT, Evans won a 25-man battle royal, securing a title shot against Trick Williams for the NXT Championship at NXT Heatwave. Later that night, he was defeated by Ethan Page, who claimed he was never officially eliminated from the battle royal due to interference by Mensah.

As tensions escalated, NXT General Manager Ava announced that the title match at Heatwave would now be a fatal four-way. Those involved would include Evans, Ethan Page, and Shawn Spears, who had previously defeated Williams in a non-title match. At NXT Heatwave on July 7, 2024, Evans was pinned by Page, who captured the NXT Championship.
