GIULIA

Eimi Gloria Matsudo (松戸グロリア英美), also known as Giulia, is a 31-year-old professional wrestler from London, England. She is signed to WWE, where she performs on the SmackDown brand. Giulia is a former one-time NXT Women’s Champion.

Early Professional Wrestling Career

Giulia debuted under the ring name Giulia at New Ice Ribbon #845 on October 29, 2017, teaming with Takako Inoue in a loss to Nao Date and Satsuki Totoro. She entered the Young Ice Tournament in November but was eliminated in the first round by Totoro.

In April 2018, Giulia faced Tsukasa Fujimoto, losing in just 39 seconds. She earned her first singles win on September 24 by defeating Asahi. Later that year, she feuded with Tequila Saya, a rivalry that brought in Shinya Aoki and Hideki Suzuki as mentors. After Giulia and Aoki defeated Saya and Suzuki on December 31, Giulia and Saya reconciled and formed the tag team Burning Raw.

At the end of 2018, Giulia received Ice Ribbon’s New Face Award. On January 27, 2019, Burning Raw unsuccessfully challenged for the International Ribbon Tag Team Championship. Giulia then took a break due to nerve damage in her hip.

After returning, she feuded with Maya Yukihi and challenged her for the ICE Cross Infinity Championship on May 25, but came up short. In July, Burning Raw defeated Yukihi and Risa Sera to win the International Ribbon Tag Team Championship—Giulia’s first title. Their reign lasted 70 days before losing the belts back on September 23. Giulia announced her departure from Ice Ribbon on October 13, 2019.

Giulia’s Run on the Independent Circuit

On October 1, 2017, Giulia competed at Toshiaki Kawada’s Holy War event, losing to Command Bolshoi. She soon faced Aja Kong in Oz Academy, also in a losing effort.

In 2018, Giulia appeared at several Big Japan Pro Wrestling events featuring joshi talent, debuting on June 9 in a loss to Tequila Saya. On November 18, she picked up a win over Mochi Miyagi at Zero1’s Tenka-Ichi Junior Tournament. On July 21, 2019, Giulia challenged Saori Anou for the AgZ Championship at Actwres girl’Z Act In Osaka but was unsuccessful.

Giulia Performs for World Wonder Ring Stardom

Giulia joined World Wonder Ring Stardom in October 2019, debuting with a win over Hazuki. In early 2020, she formed the Donna Del Mondo faction and won the Artist of Stardom Championship. She later captured the Wonder of Stardom Championship in July and held it for 220 days before losing to Tam Nakano in a high-profile hair vs. hair match.

Giulia rebounded by winning the Goddesses of Stardom Championship with Syuri as part of ALK. After a brief injury break, she returned in late 2021 and went on to win the 2022 5 Star Grand Prix. In December, she defeated Syuri to become World of Stardom Champion, holding the title for 115 days before losing it to Nakano again in April 2023.

In May, Giulia won the Artist of Stardom titles with Thekla and Sakurai as Baribari Bombers, holding them for 221 days. She left Stardom in April 2024 after her final match teaming with Syuri against Mayu Iwatani and Hanan.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

Giulia has competed in several high-profile matches for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) through its partnership with Stardom. She debuted at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in January 2020 and later picked up wins alongside Syuri at Wrestle Kingdom 15 and Wrestle Grand Slam.

At Historic X-Over in November 2022, Giulia teamed with Zack Sabre Jr. to defeat Syuri and Tom Lawlor. On July 5, 2023, she won the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship by defeating Willow Nightingale. She successfully defended it in the U.S. at Multiverse United 2, before losing the title to Stephanie Vaquer in March 2024, ending her 249-day reign.

Dream Star Fighting Marigold

On April 15, 2024, former Stardom executive Rossy Ogawa announced the launch of his new promotion, Dream Star Fighting Marigold, with Giulia as one of its founding stars. She headlined Marigold’s debut show, Fields Forever, on May 20, teaming with Utami Hayashishita in a loss to Sareee and Bozilla. A singles match between Giulia and Sareee for the inaugural Marigold World Championship was later set for Summer Destiny on July 13, but was put in doubt after Giulia suffered a wrist fracture.

Despite the injury, the match went ahead, with Giulia coming up short. She later announced her final Marigold appearance before moving to WWE would be on August 19, at Summer Gold Shine 2024, where she defeated Mai Sakurai in her farewell match.

Giulia Signs with WWE

Giulia debuted at NXT No Mercy, confronting Roxanne Perez to establish herself as a face. She failed to win the title on NXT’s CW premiere due to Cora Jade’s interference. At NXT Deadline, she won the Iron Survivor Challenge and captured the NXT Women’s Championship at New Year’s Evil. Her 63-day reign ended at NXT Roadblock in a Winner Takes All loss to Stephanie Vaquer, amid reports of an injury.

She returned on April 8, turned heel by attacking Vaquer, and later competed in a fatal four-way at Stand & Deliver, where Vaquer retained. Her final NXT match was a No.1 Contender’s loss to Jordynne Grace on May 6.

Debut on SmackDown

On the May 16 episode of WWE SmackDown, Giulia was officially introduced as the newest member of the SmackDown roster. She made an immediate impact in her debut match on the May 23 show, winning a high-stakes triple threat qualifier against Charlotte Flair and Women’s U.S. Champion Zelina Vega. Giulia secured her spot in the Money in the Bank: Los Angeles ladder match by hitting her finisher and pinning Vega, marking a strong start to her WWE career.
