DANTE CHEN

Sean Tan Li Hao, also known as Dante Chen, is a Singaporean professional wrestler. He is currently signed with WWE where he performs on the company’s NXT brand.

Sean’s older brother introduced him to WWE video games as a child, thus sparking his interest in professional wrestling. He attended Assumption English School for high school and then earned a certificate in Business at ITE College West. From 2015 to 2017, Tan served in the Singapore Army. After completing his military service, he earned a diploma in Health Management and Promotion from Republic Polytechnic in 2020.

Dante Chen’s Early Wrestling Career

Tan began his professional wrestling journey with Singapore Pro Wrestling (SPW) in January 2013 after a chance encounter with SPW founder Andruew Tang at a local gym. Under the guidance of Tang and co-founder Vadim Koryagin, Tan underwent intense training and made his in-ring debut as Trexxus just four weeks later—on January 31, 2013, at SPW New Year Rumble, facing Sebastian Turini. This remarkable debut set a Singapore national record for the fastest pro wrestling debut, a record that stood for over nine years until Varun Khanna surpassed it in 2022.

In 2014, Trexxus joined forces with Andruew Tang to form the tag team Onslaught. The duo made history by winning the inaugural SPW Tag Team Championship at SPW: Breakthrough, defeating MK & Affi. Onslaught successfully defended the titles against Bit Man and international star Ho Ho Lun at SPW: Prove 3. However, on May 10, 2015, the team was forced to vacate the SPW Tag Team Championships due to Trexxus’s commitment to Singapore’s national service.

SPW Southeast Asian Champion

Trexxus became the youngest SPW Southeast Asian Champion in 2017. He held the title through several successful defenses before losing it in early 2018. From 2018 to 2021, he remained a key figure in SPW, engaging in major rivalries and high-profile matches, including bouts against international stars like Kenny Omega and Pete Dunne. His nearly nine-year SPW career ended in May 2021 after losing a Title vs. Career match to The Statement.

Tan’s WWE Tryouts

Tan was invited for WWE tryouts in Shanghai in 2019. During the tryout, Tan appeared on WWE social media stating he wanted to one day be a WWE Hall of Famer. He was recruited immediately after the tryouts, and given permission to complete his studies. Although he graduated in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he only moved to Orlando, Florida in mid-2021.

Dante Chen’s WWE Career

Tan made his WWE debut on September 22, 2021, under the ring name Dante Chen, winning his first match on NXT 2.0 against Trey Baxter. He followed this with a victory on 205 Live against Malik Blade. However, a leg injury and the passing of his father sidelined him for four months.

Returning in early 2022, Chen entered a feud with Duke Hudson and later competed regularly on NXT Level Up. He faced names like Javier Bernal and Bodhi Hayward. After a string of losses, he ended a nine-match losing streak with a win over Myles Borne, and later earned his first tag team win alongside Guru Raaj. He also gained viral attention for dressing as Rhea Ripley during a Halloween Battle Royal.

Throughout 2023, Chen became a regular on NXT Level Up, often competing against debuting talent and forming a brief alliance with Boa before Boa’s release in 2024. He made his Main Event debut in March 2023 and, in February 2024, made history as the first Singaporean and Southeast Asian wrestler to compete on the WWE main roster, debuting on SmackDown in a match against Bron Breakker.

In May 2024, Chen returned to NXT with manager Robert Stone and reignited his feud with Lexis King. He scored back-to-back wins before losing to King in WWE’s first Singapore Cane match in over a decade. On the July 16 episode of NXT, Chen challenged Ethan Page for the NXT Championship. This was his first title opportunity, though he was unsuccessful. He continued to appear on Main Event through August and September, facing top talent like Oba Femi and Ilja Dragunov.

Dante Chen’s Stint with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

Dante Chen made his TNA debut on the August 8, 2024 episode of TNA Impact! as part of WWE’s ongoing partnership with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. He competed in an Ultimate X qualifying match against Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz and KC Navarro. The match was ultimately won by Wentz.
