CM PUNK

CM Punk (Phillip Jack Brooks) is a professional wrestler from Chicago, Illinois, currently signed with WWE Raw. Known for his outspoken persona and “straight edge” lifestyle, Punk has become one of wrestling’s most influential figures.

Early Wrestling Career

CM Punk began in the Lunatic Wrestling Federation in the 1990s, debuting on October 25, 1997. The name “CM Punk” came from his early tag team, the Chick Magnets. He later trained at the Steel Dominion school under Ace Steel, wrestling for Steel Domain Wrestling in Minnesota by 1999.

Punk made waves in IWA Mid-South, capturing the Heavyweight Championship five times and feuding with stars like Chris Hero and Colt Cabana. He also became IWC Heavyweight Champion in 2002.

CM Punk in TNA

Punk debuted in TNA Wrestling in 2002, teaming with Ace Steel. He later joined The Gathering with Julio Dinero under Raven. After backstage issues and a creative disconnect, Punk left TNA in March 2004.

CM Punk in Ring of Honor

Punk joined Ring of Honor (ROH) in 2002, rising quickly through feuds with Raven and a classic trilogy against Samoa Joe. He formed the Second City Saints with Ace Steel and Colt Cabana. In 2005, Punk won the ROH World Championship and launched the “Summer of Punk” storyline before signing with WWE. He was later inducted into the ROH Hall of Fame in 2022.

CM Punk in WWE

After joining WWE, Punk excelled in OVW, winning the Television, Heavyweight, and Tag Team Titles. He rose to prominence by winning back-to-back Money in the Bank matches in 2008 and 2009, capturing the World Heavyweight Championship both times.

In 2011, Punk delivered the legendary “pipe bomb” promo, criticizing WWE management and sparking a fan-favorite run. He defeated John Cena at Money in the Bank 2011, launching a 434-day WWE Championship reign, the longest of the modern era. He headlined against stars like The Rock, Cena, and The Undertaker.

Punk left WWE in 2014 due to creative frustration and health issues.

CM Punk in AEW

Punk returned to wrestling with AEW on August 20, 2021, debuting on Rampage: The First Dance in Chicago. He feuded with Darby Allin, Eddie Kingston, and MJF, with the Dog Collar Match against MJF becoming a modern classic. He won the AEW World Championship twice, defeating “Hangman” Adam Page and Jon Moxley.

In 2023, he won the Owen Hart Tournament and headlined AEW Collision, reigniting his rivalry with Samoa Joe. Punk was fired on September 2, 2023, after a backstage incident with Jack Perry at All In London, ending a controversial but successful AEW stint.

CM Punk Returns to WWE

Punk made a shocking WWE return at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 25, 2023, receiving one of the loudest ovations ever. He joined WWE Raw in December and entered the 2024 Royal Rumble, where he was runner-up but tore his triceps.

The injury led to a long feud with Drew McIntyre, culminating in three major matches: SummerSlam, Bash in Berlin, and Bad Blood, where Punk won the final Hell in a Cell match.

In 2025, Punk rejoined a top storyline involving Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. At WrestleMania 41, Punk was betrayed by Paul Heyman, who sided with Rollins in a stunning heel turn.
