On December 4, 2016, Bliss defeated Becky Lynch to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time. She briefly lost the title to Naomi in early 2017 but regained it two weeks later after Naomi vacated due to injury. Her second reign ended at WrestleMania 33, where Naomi reclaimed the title in a six-pack challenge.
Alexa Bliss Becomes RAW Women’s Champion
In 2017, Bliss was drafted to RAW and quickly earned a title shot. At Payback, she defeated Bayley to become the RAW Women’s Champion, making her the first woman to hold both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s titles. Although she lost the title to Sasha Banks at SummerSlam, she regained it just eight days later on RAW.
In February 2018, Bliss won the first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match, continuing her reign until WrestleMania 34, where she lost the title to Nia Jax, ending her 223-day reign. At Money in the Bank 2018, Bliss won the Money in the Bank briefcase and cashed it in the same night to defeat Jax and reclaim the RAW Women’s Championship. Her reign ended at SummerSlam when she lost to Ronda Rousey. She failed to win it back at Hell in a Cell and suffered a concussion that sidelined her from WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view, Evolution.
Bliss returned in January 2019 for the Women’s Royal Rumble, lasting about 12 minutes before being eliminated.
Tag Team Success with Nikki Cross
In June 2019, Bliss formed a tag team with Nikki Cross. Although their first title opportunity was unsuccessful, they captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in August. They defended the titles at Clash of Champions but lost them to the Kabuki Warriors at Hell in a Cell. At WrestleMania 36, Bliss and Cross defeated the Kabuki Warriors to become two-time tag champions, holding the titles for 62 days before losing them to Bayley and Sasha Banks.
The Fiend Storyline and Dark Transformation
In 2020, Bliss became involved in a darker storyline featuring Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. During The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, she appeared in a vision that lured Strowman into a trap set by Wyatt. Soon after, she was attacked by The Fiend and began a slow transformation. She started exhibiting supernatural behavior, used The Fiend’s finisher Sister Abigail, and entered a trance-like state.
During the 2020 WWE Draft, both Bliss and The Fiend were drafted to RAW. On the October 26 episode of RAW, she debuted a new entrance theme, “The Fury,” during her segment with Randy Orton. Following The Fiend’s absence, Bliss carried on the rivalry, using paranormal powers to torment Orton. At Fastlane 2021, she defeated Orton with help from The Fiend, who returned and attacked Orton during the match.
After WrestleMania 37, Bliss declared she no longer needed The Fiend and introduced a mysterious doll named Lilly. This led to a feud with Shayna Baszler, culminating in a victory at Hell in a Cell 2021.
Continued Feuds and Title Opportunities
Bliss and Cross reunited briefly in June 2021, defeating Nia Jax and Baszler in a Money in the Bank qualifier. On the July 12 episode of RAW, Bliss began a feud with Eva Marie, which led to a match at SummerSlam, where Bliss emerged victorious. At Extreme Rules, she unsuccessfully challenged Charlotte Flair for the RAW Women’s Championship, and after the match, Flair destroyed her doll, Lilly.
Return and 24/7 Championship Win
At Elimination Chamber 2022, Bliss returned in a title contender’s match, eliminating Liv Morgan before being eliminated by Bianca Belair. On the May 9 episode of RAW, she returned to action by defeating Sonya Deville. Bliss briefly held the 24/7 Championship, pinning Nikki A.S.H., but immediately lost it to Doudrop on July 18.
On October 31, 2022, Bliss teamed with Asuka to defeat Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and IYO SKY) for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. However, they lost the titles back at Crown Jewel just five days later. At Survivor Series WarGames, Bliss joined Bianca Belair, Asuka, Becky Lynch, and Mia Yim to defeat Damage CTRL, Nikki Cross, and Rhea Ripley.
Connection to Bray Wyatt & Uncle Howdy
With Bray Wyatt’s return in late 2022, Bliss began experiencing eerie interruptions during her matches and backstage segments, linked to Wyatt and the mysterious Uncle Howdy. On the January 2, 2023 episode of RAW, during a match against Bianca Belair, she snapped after seeing Wyatt-related imagery. Bliss attacked both Belair and the referee, resulting in a disqualification.
At the 2023 Royal Rumble, Bliss lost the championship match to Belair, furthering the psychological storyline involving Wyatt’s influence.
Return from Maternity Leave
At the Royal Rumble on February 1, 2025, Alexa made her long-awaited return to WWE after nearly two years of absence. She entered the Women’s Royal Rumble match but was eliminated by Liv Morgan. Then, on the February 7th episode of SmackDown, Bliss earned a spot in the Elimination Chamber match by defeating Candice LeRae in a qualifying bout. At the premium live event, she was once again eliminated by Morgan.
