SHAYNA BASZLER

Shayna Andrea Baszler is a 42-year-old professional wrestler and former MMA fighter. She is currently signed to the WWE and performs on Friday Night SmackDown.

Baszler started her career in MMA in 2006 and is most notable for her time in Ultimate Fight Championship (UFC). She made her professional wrestling debut on September 26, 2015, losing to Cheerleader Melissa for Quintessential Pro Wrestling (QPG). In April 2016, Baszler debuted for Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW) and lost to Mia Yim. She returned to AIW in-ring action the following month and started winning matches against Veda Scott, Annie Social and then she defeated Heidi Lovelace to become the AIW Women’s Champion. Baszler won titles across many different wrestling promotions including World Wonder Ring Stardom, DDT Pro-Wrestling, and Premier Wrestling.

Shayna Baszler’s WWE Debut

In 2017, Shayna Baszler made her WWE debut as part of the 2017 Mae Young Classic Tournament. She defeated Zeda in the first round and then defeated Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, and Mercedes Martinez. She lost in the finals to Kairi Sane. On October 3rd, WWE announced that she signed with the company and then started training at the WWE Performance Center in Florida.

Baszler made her televised debut in December 2017 by attacking Kairi Sane and in her first NXT match against Dakota Kai, she was victorious. She then started feuding against Ember Moon and defeated her for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. Baszler had successful defenses against Dakota Kai and Nikki Cross before losing the title to Kairi Sane at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4. Her reign lasted 133 days.

Shayna Baszler Wins NXT Women’s Championship

Baszler regained the championship after defeating Kairi Sane at the Evolution event and she became the first ever two time NXT Women’s Champion. Baszler had successful defenses against Kairi Sane, Bianca Belair, Mia Yim, Io Shirai, and Candice LeRae. In November 2019, Baszler attacked Bayley on SmackDown and confronted Becky Lynch on RAW which set up a triple threat match between the three wrestlers at Survivor Series. Baszler won the triple threat champions match against RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley to win Survivor Series for the NXT brand.

The night before Survivor Series, Baszler competed in the first ever Women’s WarGames match teaming with Kay Lee Ray, Io Shirai, and Bianca Belair in a losing effort to Rhea Ripley, Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox, and Candice LeRae. Baszler lost her title to Rhea Ripley in December 2019. She was in the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble entering at Number 30 and lost to Charlotte Flair in the end after eliminating eight other women.

Shayna Baszler’s Main Roster Debut

Baszler made her main roster debut in February 2020 attacking Becky Lynch on an episode of RAW. At Elimination Chamber 2020, she defeated Asuka, Sarah Logan, Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott, and Natalya, which earned her an opportunity to face Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 36. At WrestleMania, Baszler lost the match to Lynch and one month later, she competed at Money in the Bank in the match for the briefcase but also lost that match.

Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax Become A Championship Tag Team

After a rivalry with Nia Jax, the two teamed up and won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Payback 2020 defeating Bayley and Sasha Banks.

At WWE’s TLC (Tables, Ladders, Chairs) pay-per-view event on December 20, 2020, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship titles to Asuka and Charlotte Flair. Baszler and Jax regained the titles at the 2021 Royal Rumble by defeating Asuka and Flair.

Baszler & Jax’s Second Tag Team Championship

During their second reign as tag team champions, Baszler and Jax had simultaneous feuds with the teams of Naomi and Lana, Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke, and Natalya and Tamina. They defended the titles against all of them on different occasions but were victorious in every bout. At WrestleMania 37, Baszler and Jax defended the tag titles against Natalya and Tamina retained the titles. After multiple singles matches and tag team matches between the two teams, Baszler and Jax lost the titles to Natalya and Tamina on the May 14th episode of SmackDown.

On the May 31st episode of RAW, Baszler began feuding with Alexa Bliss, claiming that the use of Bliss’ “powers” are the reason why her and Jax lost the tag team titles. A match between the two would then be scheduled for Hell in a Cell in which Baszler lost to Bliss.

Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax End Alliance

After weeks of fighting, the alliance between Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax came to an end on the September 20th episode of Monday Night RAW. After their match against each other, Baszler brutally attacked Nia Jax after their match against each other.

As part of the WWE Draft in October 2021, Shayna Baszler was drafted to Friday Night SmackDown. In October, Baszler entered the Queen’s Crown tournament, where she defeated Dana Brooke in the first round, but lost to Doudrop in the semi-finals.
