KAIRI SANE
Kaori Housako (宝迫 香織, Hōsako Kaori) is a 36 year-old professional wrestler from Japan. Housako is currently signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) where she performs on the company’s SmackDown brand. Her ring name is Kairi Sane.
Kairi Sane was born in, and grew up in Japan. She competed in intercollegiate and national competitions in yachting, while also participating in world championships. After she graduated from Hosei University with a degree in Japanese literature, Housako pursued a career in acting. While performing as a professional wrestling villian in theatre, she was seen by Fuka, the general manage of World Wonder Ring Stardom promotion, who invited her to one of the events. Housako was captivated by professional wrestling and decided to pursue it as her profession.
Kairi Sane’s Early Wrestling Career
In 2011, Housako started training with World Wonder Ring Stardom. She graduated as part of Stardom’s third class of trainees and began working under the ring name, “Kairi Hojo.” She made her in-ring debut on January 7th, 2012, losing to Yuzuki Aikawa. Dubbed the “Pirate Princess”, she then founded the stable, Zenryoku Joshi, which was led by Aikawa. In November 2012, she formed a new tag team with Natsumi Showzuki. They finished second place in the 2012 Goddesses of Stardom Tag League. The following year, Zenryoku Joshi disbanded after Hojo unsuccessfully challenged fellow stablemate Yuzuki Aikawa for the Wonder of Stardom Championship.
Hojo teamed with Kaori Yoneyama and Yuhi to defeat Christina Von Eerie, Hailey Hatred and Kyoko Kimura for the vacant Artist of Stardom Championship on June 23, 2013,. They lost the title to Kimura, Alpha Female and The Female Predator “Amazon” on November 4. In May 2014, Hojo made her Mexican debut by representing Stardom in the DragonMania 9 and Lucha Fan Fest 8 events. On August 10, Hojo regained the Goddess of Stardom Championship, when she and Takahashi defeated Alpha Female and Kyoko Kimura. After an eight-month reign, Hojo was again stripped of the title, when Takahashi was sidelined with an ankle injury.
World of Stardom Success
On March 29, 2015, Hojo defeated first Kyoko Kimura and then beat Io Shirai to win the World of Stardom Championship for the first time. She lost the title to Meiko Satomura on July 26. Hojo then won Stardom’s top singles tournament, the 5★Star GP, by defeating Hudson Envy in the finals on September 23. At the end of the year, Hojo was named Stardom’s MVP of 2015. The following January, Hojo and former rivals Io Shirai and Mayu Iwatani formed a new stable, “Threedom.” They defeated Evie, Hiroyo Matsumoto and Kellie Skater in February 2016 to win the Artist of Stardom Championship.
