ANGEL GARZA

Angel Humberto Garza Solano is a 31-year-old professional wrestler from Mexico. Solano is signed to the WWE and performs on SmackDown under the ring name, Angel Garza.

Solano is a third-generation wrestler and is the grandson of luchador Mike Segura, known as El Ninja. He started wrestling in 2008 under the ring name, El Hijo del Ninja, for Federacion Internacional de Lucha Libre (FILL). The following year he won the 2009 Copa Arena Coliseo Monterrey tournament. Shortly after his tournament win, he won the FILL Light Heavyweight Championship.

From 2015 to 2017, Solano began working for one of Mexico’s largest promotions, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, where he used the ring name, Garza Jr. He wrestled the Mexican independent circuit and also wrestled for Impact Wrestling from 2017 to 2019.

Angel Garza’s WWE Debut

In April 2019, it was announced that Garza had signed a contract with WWE and he began working at the company’s Performance Center in Florida. He also changed his ring name to Angel Garza. In June 2019, he competed in the NXT Breakout Tournament. At his debut, Garza defeated Joaquin Wilde in the first round but lost to Jordan Myles in the semifinals.

In November 2019, Garza defeated Tony Nese to become the number one contender for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship held by Lio Rush. Garza failed to defeat Rush the following week on NXT but won the title on the December 11 episode of NXT. Garza lost the title to Jordan Devlin at Worlds Collide on January 25, 2020.

Garza’s Main Roster Debut

Angel Garza made his main roster debut on RAW on February 3, 2020. He formed a tag team with Andrade to face The Street Profits at WrestleMania 36 but failed to compete due to an injury Andrade sustained. Instead, Garza teamed with Austin Theory but they failed to win the title at WrestleMania. On the April 13th episode of RAW, Angel Garza, Andrade and Austin Theory established themselves as a faction and attacked Akira Tozawa. But after Theory accidentally cost them a match against Kevin Owens and Apollo Crews, Garza and Andrade kicked Theory out of their faction in May. A week later, Angel Garza pulled off a huge victory over Kevin Owens.

On June 8, 2020, Angel Garza, Andrade and Kevin Owens competed in a Triple Threat match for an opportunity at the United States Championship at Backlash. Garza failed to win the match after being pinned by Andrade.

At Backlash, Angel Garza attempted to help Andrade defeat Apollo Crews but was stunned by Owens at ringside. This led to Crews retaining the title. The following night on RAW, Garza lost to Owens after Andrade’s interference on his behalf backfired.

Garza and Andrade Form A Tag Team

In June 2020, Angel Garza and Andrade formed a tag team and began feuding with The Viking Raiders. On Monday Night RAW’s June 22 episode, following their match with the Viking Raiders, Garza and Andrade attacked The Street Profits, making it clear they had their sights set on the RAW Tag Team titles.

For the next few weeks, Angel Garza and Andrade feuded with The Viking Raiders and defeated them in a Tag Team Elimination match. Garza and Andrade struggled to communicate as a team and managed to defeat The Viking Raiders and the team of Cedric Alexander and Ricochet to earn a RAW Tag Team Title shot against The Street Profits at SummerSlam.

At SummerSlam, they lost to The Street Profits due to poor communication. On the September 14th episode of Monday Night RAW, Zelina Vega, the team’s manager, ended her association with the team due to their constant arguing.

On the following week’s RAW, Garza and Andrade defeated Seth Rollins and Murphy and Dominik Mysterio and Humberto Carrillo to become the #1 contenders for the RAW Tag Team Titles against the Street Profits at Clash of Champions.

At Clash of Champions, Garza and Andrade failed to capture the titles again. Garza suffered a legitimate knee injury during the match. He returned to in-ring action on October 12 and defeated Andrade in a match that officially split up their team.

Garza Captures 24/7 Championship

At TikTok’s New Year’s Eve party livestream, Angel Garza managed a surprise attack and defeated R-Truth for the WWE 24/7 Championship.

On January 4, 2021, Garza lost the 24/7 title back to R-Truth on Monday Night RAW. On the September 20 episode of Raw, Garza formed a tag team with his cousin Humberto Carrillo, defeating Mansoor and Mustafa Ali.

At the WWE 2021 Draft, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo were both drafted to SmackDown.  On the November 5th episode of SmackDown, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo shortened their ring names, being billed as Angel and Humberto, and formed the team, Los Lotharios.

Angel and Humberto were drafted to WWE’s RAW brand as part of the 2023 WWE Draft. Both returned on the June 13th episode of NXT and defeated Axiom and Scrypts. On July 11th, Angel’s ring name was changed back to Angel Garza.
