RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ

Victoria González is a 32-year-old professional wrestler from La Feria, Texas. González is signed to the WWE and performs on RAW under the ring name, Raquel Rodriguez.

González is a second generation professional wrestler and is the daughter of Speedy Gonzalez/Ricky “Desperado” Gonzalez, who worked the Texas independent wrestling scene. Throughout high school, González played basketball and then played at the college level for Texas A&M–Kingsville Javelinas.

González’s WWE Contract & Debut

In October 2016, González signed a developmental contract with the WWE. She then reported to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Her first match was a 12-woman battle royal at an NXT live event that she lost.

In 2017, she was assigned a new ring name, Reina González, and she competed in the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament where she was eliminated in the first round by Nicole Savoy. The following year, she competed in the Mae Young Classic tournament. She was eliminated in again in the first round by Kacy Catanzaro.

González’s New Ring Name

In February 2020, González made her first televised appearance since the Mae Young Classic at NXT TakeOver: Portland with the new ring name, Raquel González. She interfered in a street match between Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox by slamming Nox through the table. Following TakeOver, González became Kai’s bodyguard and helped her win her matches.

In June 2020, Raquel González had her first pay-per-view match at NXT: In Your House. She teamed with Candice LeRae and Kai, losing to the team of Mia Yim, Nox and Shotzi Blackheart in a six-woman tag team match.

Raquel González & Dakota Kai Win Dusty Rhodes Classic

Raquel González and Dakota Kai teamed up and competed in the first ever Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. In the final, they defeated Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon for the win. With this victory, Kai and González earned a shot at WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. The match ended in controversy on the March 3rd, 2021 episode of NXT after Kai was pinned despite not legally being in the match.

On the March 10th NXT episode, González and Kai were awarded the newly created NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships by General Manager William Regal, marking Kai’s first championship in the WWE. Later that night, Kai and González lost the Championship to Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon.

Raquel González Wins NXT Women’s Championship

At NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver’s Night One on April 7 2021, Raquel González defeated Io Shirai to become the Women’s NXT Champion. The following month, she successfully defeated her title against Mercedes Martinez.

On May 25th, Raquel and Dakota fought Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart and lost. After the match, Raquel brutally attacked Shotzi while Dakota forced Ember to watch. On June 13, at NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Raquel defeated Ember Moon to retain the title.

On the July 27 episode of NXT, González was attacked by Kai, thus turning face for the first time in her career and ending their alliance. González retained the title against Kai at NXT TakeOver 36. At NXT: Halloween Havoc. González lost the NXT Women’s Championship to Mandy Rose in a Trick or Street Fight match. Thanks to the returning Dakota Kai interfering, her reign ended at 202 days. At NXT New Year’s Evil on January 4th, Gonzalez failed to regain the title in a triple threat match.

On the March 29, 2022 episode of NXT 2.0, after Toxic Attraction took out Wendy Choo, Dakota Kai attacked the group and was assisted by González. Dakota Kai embraced Gonzalez afterwards, thus completing her face turn for the first time since November 2019. It was then announced that Kai and González would take on Toxic Attraction members Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship during the kickoff pre-show of NXT Stand & Deliver, in which they were successful. Just three days later, however, Kai and González lost the titles back to Toxic Attraction on NXT 2.0.

Raquel Moves To Main Roster & Gets A New Ring Name

On the April 8 2022 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Raquel, now known as Raquel Rodriguez, made her SmackDown debut in an interview backstage. During her interview, Raquel was interrupted by Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza; both men attempted to woo Rodriguez but were unsuccessful.

On the May 13 episode of SmackDown, Rodriguez answered Ronda Rousey’s open challenge for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Rodriguez failed to win the title. On the June 17 episode of SmackDown, Rodriguez defeated Shayna Baszler to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match. At the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event on July 2, Raquel was unsuccessful in winning the match.

Raquel & Aliyah Win Tag Team Titles

On the August 29th episode of Monday Night RAW, Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah defeated IYO SKY and Dakota Kai in the tournament for the vacant Women’s Tag Team Titles. At the September 12th episode of Monday Night RAW, Raquel Rodriguez and Dakota Kai lost the titles to Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. Their reign lasted 14 days. After Shotzi saved Rodriguez from an attack by Damage CTRL, they challenged Dakota Kai and IYO Sky for the titles on the October 21st episode of SmackDown, but were unsuccessful after Bayley distracted Shotzi.

On the November 11th episode of SmackDown, Rodriguez competed in a six-pack challenge to determine the #1 contender to Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s Championship, which was won by Shotzi. On the December 23rd episode of SmackDown, Rodriguez won a gauntlet match to become the number one contender to Ronda Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s Championship. The following week on SmackDown, Rodriguez failed to win the title after interference from Shayna Baszler.

Raquel’s First Royal Rumble

Rodriguez entered her first Royal Rumble match at the event on January 28, 2023. She entered at #22. She eliminated Nia Jax, Lacey Evans, and Piper Niven before being eliminated by winner Rhea Ripley.

At Night 2 of WrestleMania 39, Raquel teamed with Liv Morgan to take part in the women’s WrestleMania Showcase fatal four-way tag team match. The following night on RAW, Liv Morgan teamed with Rodriguez again. They defeated Damage CTRL in a number one contenders match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. The match was scheduled for the following week against reigning champions Lita and Becky Lynch.

Morgan & Rodriguez Win Tag Team Championship

On the April 10th episode of RAW, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez won their title match to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. On the May 19th episode of SmackDown, Morgan and Rodriguez vacated the titles due to Morgan suffering a shoulder injury. Their reign lasted 39 days. Morgan returned from her injury on the June 23rd episode of SmackDown. On July 1st at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event, Morgan and Rodriguez defeated Baszler and Rousey for the titles.
