MICHIN

Stephanie Hym Bell is a 34-year-old professional wrestler from California. She is currently signed to WWE and performs on Monday Night RAW under the ring name, Michin.

Growing up, Bell was a huge professional wrestling fan and she began her training at a wrestling school in Virginia while attending college. She made her in-ring debut on August 22, 2009, under the ring name, Mia Yim, for an independent promotion in Virginia.

Initially, she worked primarily for the Virginia independent wrestling promotions but soon started accepting bookings for Jersey All Pro Wrestling. After graduating from college, she received an invitation to train and wrestle in Japan with Universal Woman’s Pro Wrestling Reina in 2011.

Michin’s Early Wrestling Career

During her early years in wrestling, Bell also worked for the International Wrestling Cartel, Real Championship Wrestling, Northeast Wrestling, and Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW).

Before wrestling for WWE, Bell worked for promotions like Combat Zone Wrestling, Shine Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, Full Impact Pro, and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling/Impact Wrestling. She held various championship titles for these promotions including DDT Pro Wrestling’s Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, Shine Wrestling’s Shine Championship and Shine Tag Team Championship and the TCW Women’s Championship.

In 2017, she entered the WWE’s Mae Young Classic tournament and eliminated Sarah Logan in the first round but was eliminated by Shayna Baszler in the second. The following year, she entered the Mae Young Classic again and made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Toni Storm.

Michin’s WWE Debut

Bell’s performance at the 2018 Mae Young Classic impressed WWE and she was signed to the company in September 2018. She made her NXT in-ring debut on October 24, 2018, and defeated Aliyah. Since then, she has fought in various NXT events and matches feuding with Dakota Kai, Shayna Baszler, Raquel Gonzalez and Candice LeRae.

At NXT TakeOver: In Your House in June 2020, Bell teamed with Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart and defeated Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez and Candice LeRae in a 6-woman tag team match.

Retribution (2020 – Present)

On the September 21, 2020 edition of RAW, several weeks after her last appearance on NXT, Bell turned heel in her main roster debut by revealing herself as a member of the villainous stable, Retribution. She also took on the ring name of RECKONING.

On April 19, 2021, Reckoning was reassigned to WWE’s SmackDown brand but did not debut on the brand. In July, Yim was traded back to the RAW brand in exchange for Naomi. As part of the 2021 Draft, the Reckoning character was quietly dropped as Yim was officially drafted to the RAW brand. On November 4, 2021, Yim was released from her WWE contract without ever reappearing on television.

Return to the Independent circuit

On March 31, 2022, Bell made her in-ring return during the WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial Super Show, where she defeated Athena. She then began wrestling for Impact Wrestling and appeared at Under Siege on May 7, 2022, using the ring name, Mia Yim.

On the May 19 episode of Impact!, Yim had her first match at Impact in five years, where she alongside Jordynne Grace and Valkyrie defeated the team of Purrazzo, Savannah Evans and the Knockouts World Champion Tasha Steelz. At Slammiversary on June 19, she competed in the inaugural Queen of the Mountain match for the Knockouts World Championship. She then teamed with Mickie James on July 1 at Against All Odds and fought Purrazzo and Chelsea Green in a losing effort.

On August 12 at Emergence, Yim challenged Grace for the Knockouts World Championship. She failed to win the title. On September 23rd at Victory Road, Yim competed in an Intergender Triple Threat Revolver to determine the number one contender for the X Division Championship. She eliminated Laredo Kid and Alex Zayne but was eliminated by Kenny King. Yim was defeated by Mickie James at Bound for Glory and, three days later, she left the company. On the October 20th episode of Impact!, Yim wrestled her last match for the company by facing Taylor Wilde in a losing effort.

Bell Returns to WWE

On the November 7th, 2022 episode of RAW, Bell returned to WWE as a face. She attacked Rhea Ripley of The Judgment Day and aligned with The O.C.. On November 21st, it was announced that her new ring name would be, Michin. That was quickly changed, however, be a nickname rather than her full ring name. Three weeks later at Survivor Series WarGames on 26 November, Yim’s team defeated Ripley’s team after Becky Lynch pinned Dakota Kai in a WarGames match.

At the Women’s Royal Rumble match in January 2023, Michin entered at number 23. She lasted more than seventeen minutes before being eliminated by Piper Niven. As part of the 2023 WWE Draft, Michin was drafted to the SmackDown brand.
