KEVIN OWENS

Kevin Steen is a 37-year-old professional wrestler from Quebec, Canada. He is currently signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and performs on Monday Night RAW under the ring name, Kevin Owens.

Steen began his wrestling career on his 16th birthday for the company, Ring of Honor (ROH). He is from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada, and speaks both French and English fluently. He learned to speak English by watching WWE’s Monday Night RAW as a teenager.

Early in his career, Kevin Steen wrestled for various promotions including International Wrestling Syndicate, Combat Zone Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, and Ring of Honor.

Kevin Owens’ WWE Debut

In August 2014, it was announced by WWE that Steen had signed with the company and would be reporting to the company’s developmental brand, NXT. His ring name was changed to Kevin Owens which was a tribute to Steen’s son Owen, who was named after wrestler, Owen Hart.

In December 2014, Owens defeated CJ Parker in his debut for NXT at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution. At NXT TakeOver: Rival in February 2015, Owens defeated reigning champion, Sami Zayn, for the NXT Championship. He defended his NXT Championship title successfully for 143 days before being defeated by Finn Bálor.

Kevin Owens’ Main Roster Debut

Kevin Owens made his main roster debut on May 18, 2015 when he responded to John Cena’s United States Championship open challenge. Instead of competing in a match, Owens attacked Cena and stomped on the United States Championship belt. This began a feud between Owens and Cena but after several matches, Owens was not successful in beating Cena for the championship.

In September 2015, Kevin Owens won his first singles title on the main roster when he defeated Ryback for the Intercontinental Championship. His title reign lasted 84 days. In August 2016, after Finn Bálor had to abdicate his Universal Championship due to injury, Kevin Owens competed in and won a fatal four-way elimination match to win the title. Owens lost the title 188 days later at the pay-per-view event, Fastlane, when Chris Jericho interfered in his match against Goldberg.

Kevin Owens feuded with Chris Jericho in 2017 and won and lost the United States Championship three times. Since then, Owens has feuded with various wrestlers including Braun Strowman, Shane McMahon, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
