JEY USO

Joshua Samuel Fatu is a 39-year-old professional wrestler from San Francisco, California. Currently signed with the WWE, Fatu performs on the company’s RAW brand under the ring name, Jey Uso.

Joshua comes from the renowned Anoaʻi family of Samoan wrestlers. Trained since childhood by his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, Joshua began his professional wrestler careers in 2009 when he and his brother debuted as a team for WWE’s developmental brand, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).

Jimmy and Jonathan, known as the Fatu Brothers, debuted on Florida Championship Wrestling television defeating the The Rotundo Brothers. Two months later in March, the Fatu brothers defeated the Fortunate Sons to become the FCW Florida Team Tag Champions. The Usos lost their FCW titles in June to Los Aviadores.

The Uso’s Main Roster Debut

Jonathan and Joshua Fatu debuted on WWE’s RAW brand in May 2010 as Jimmy (Jonathan) Uso and Jey (Joshua) or The Usos. In The Uso’s first few appearances on RAW, they feuded with the Hart Dynasty but their first in-ring match was in June defeating Goldust and Mark Henry. Three days later, The Usos made their pay-per-view debut in a losing match to the Hart Dynasty at Fatal 4-Way.

From 2011 to 2013, The Usos feuded with various teams but were unsuccessful during this time despite numerous matches for the tag team titles. In May 2013, The Usos defeated The New Age Outlaws on an episode of RAW to win the WWE Tag Team Championships. They successfully defended their titles against the Wyatt Family, The Real Americans, Ryback and Curtis Axel and Los Matadores. At Night of Champions, The Usos lost the titles to Goldust and Stardust ending their reign at 202 days.

The Usos Drafted To SmackDown in 2016

Since then, Jimmy and Jey Uso went on to be six-time tag team champions in the WWE. In 2014, Jimmy and Jey won the WWE (now RAW) Tag Team championships twice. In 2016, as part of the WWE 2016 Draft, The Usos were assigned to SmackDown and they entered an 8 tag team tournament to determine the inaugural holders of the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The Usos did not win the tournament and turned heel taking on a street-like, thug gimmick.

The Usos & Tag Team Championships

In March 2017, the Usos defeated American Alpha to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, becoming the first team to have won both the RAW and SmackDown Tag Team Championships. The team’s reign lasted 124 days. For the rest of 2017, the Usos won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship two more times and then in 2019, they won it a fourth time. In January 2020, The Usos returned with a new short hair look and once again as part of the SmackDown roster, aiding Roman Reigns in his feud with King Corbin.

In May 2020, Jimmy suffered a knee injury in the triple threat ladder match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 36 putting him out for six to nine months with Jey appearing only sporadically.

Jey Uso Returns to In-Ring Action

On the September 4 episode of SmackDown, Jey Uso returned and replaced Big E in a fatal-four way match against King Corbin, Matt Riddle, and Sheamus and won to earn a Universal Championship match at Clash of Champions against his cousin, Roman Reigns. Jey won by pinning Riddle to earn the first singles championship opportunity of his career. At Clash of Champions, Jey lost to Reigns by technical knockout when his brother, Jimmy, came down and threw a white towel for him.

At Hell in a Cell, Jey was given another title shot against Reigns in a “I Quit” match. The match had an added stipulation that if Jey lost, he would have to follow Roman Reigns’ orders or be kicked out of their family. Jey lost again after Reigns attacked the injured Jimmy and made Jey say “I quit.” On the October 30th episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Jey defeated Daniel Bryan to qualify for Team SmackDown at Survivor Series. After the match, Jey attacked Daniel Bryan at Roman Reigns’ request thus turning heel once again and aligning with Reigns in the process.

At the 2021 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event, Jey competed in an elimination chamber match where the winner would receive a Universal Championship with Roman Reigns that same night. He was the last person eliminated by the winner Daniel Bryan.

Jey Uso Wins Big

On the April 9, 2021 special WrestleMania edition of SmackDown, Jey won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal by last eliminating Shinsuke Nakamura. This marked Jey’s first major singles win in World Wrestling Entertainment.

Jey’s brother Jimmy returned from injury on May 7 and proclaimed Jey was Roman “Reigns’ bitch.” A few weeks later though both Jey and Jimmy Uso showed their alliance with Reigns the following week confirming their face turn to heel. At Money in the Bank, The Usos captured their fifth SmackDown Tag Team Championships from the Mysterios.

At SummerSlam, The Usos defeated The Mysterios in a rematch to retain The SmackDown tag team titles. On the September 10, 2021 edition of SmackDown from Madison Square Garden, The Usos teamed up with Roman Reigns to take on the team of the Mysterios and John Cena in a losing effort in a dark match.

The Usos Win RAW Tag Team Titles

On May 20th, The Usos beat RK-Bro to win the RAW Tag Team Titles. This was a “Winner Takes All” unification match of the WWE’s tag team championship titles. The Usos retained their titles at Money in the Bank against the Street Profits. The win was controversial with the Usos winning by pinfall despite Montez Ford’s shoulder being off the mat. A rematch between the teams was scheduled for SummerSlam with a special guest referee, later revealed to be Jeff Jarrett.

On July 18, The Usos surpassed the 365-day mark as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, becoming the first team to hold the titles for a continuous reign of one full year. At SummerSlam, the Usos successfully retained against the Street Profits. On the August 1 episode of RAW, the Usos retained their titles against The Mysterios.

At SummerSlam 2022, The Usos retained against The Street Profits and again at Crown Jewel in November against The Brawling Brutes. On the November 11th episode of SmackDown, they successfully defended their championships against The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods), thus ensuring that they would become the longest reigning male tag team champions on WWE’s main roster.

The Usos Break Records

On November 14, 2022, The Usos officially broke The New Day’s record for main roster tag team championships. They broke Gallus’ record of 497 days on November 28 with the NXT UK Tag Team Championship. This meant they had become the longest reigning male tag team champions in WWE history. At Survivor Series WarGames in November, The Bloodline defeated The Brawling Brutes, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens in a WarGames match.

For the next several weeks, tension between The Usos and Sami Zayn resurfaced. After Reigns retained his championship at the Royal Rumble against Kevin Owens, The Usos attacked Owens. Sami Zayn refused to hit Kevin Owens; instead, he hit Reigns with a steel chair, turning face. Jimmy, Sikoa and Reigns attacked Zayn while Jey Uso looked on and eventually left the ring disgusted. Jey showed up on the February 10th episode of SmackDown and successfully defended the SmackDown Tag Team Championship with Jimmy against Braun Strowman and Ricochet.

The Usos’ Reign Ends

On night one of WrestleMania 39 on April 1st, The Usos main evented WrestleMania for the first time in their careers. They lost the titles to Owens and Zayn, thus ending their RAW reign at 316 days and their record SmackDown reign at 622 days. This match also marked the first time a tag team match main evented WrestleMania since its inaugural show. They failed to capture the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships in their rematch against Owens and Zayn on the April 28 episode of SmackDown.

At Night of Champions, Jimmy turned face after he and Jey cost Reigns and Solo Sikoa the match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. Jimmy super-kicked Reigns for mistreating them. Jimmy was officially removed from The Bloodline for his actions at Night of Champions on the June 2 episode of SmackDown during Reigns’ 1,000 days Universal Champion celebration.

On June 9, Jey was given a United States Championship opportunity against Austin Theory  but lost the match.  On the following week’s episode of SmackDown, Jey decided to side with Jimmy and left The Bloodline . The Usos then super-kicked both Sikoa and Reigns.

The Usos Defeat Roman Reigns

At Money in the Bank, The Usos defeated Reigns and Sikoa in a “Bloodline Civil War” tag team match with Jey pinning Reigns. This was Reigns’ first direct pinfall loss since December 2019 at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. At SummerSlam, Jimmy appeared to have turned on Jey by pulling him out of the ring while he was trying to pin Reigns and super-kicked him. This allowed Reigns to defeat Jey. On the August 11th episode of SmackDown, he explained that if Jey had become the new Tribal Chief, the power would have corrupted him. Jey responded by super-kicking Reigns, Sikoa, and finally Jimmy. He then declared that he was quitting WWE.

At WWE’s Payback pay-per-view, Jey Uso returned and appeared on The Grayson Waller Effect with Cody Rhodes. He announced that he would be switching brands from SmackDown to RAW. After joining RAW, Jey was approached by The Judgment Day to join them. On the September 18th episode of RAW, Jey declined the offer and attacked Bálor, Priest and Mysterio. Jey then lost a match to Drew McIntyre. After the match, Bálor, Priest and Mysterio assaulted Jey before Rhodes came out to save him.

At Fastlane 2023, Jey and Cody Rhodes defeated Bálor and Priest to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. Jey and Rhodes went on to successfully defend their titles against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and Austin Theory and Grayson Waller on the following week’s episodes of Raw and SmackDown. They lost the titles back to Bálor and Priest in a rematch on the October 16th episode of RAW, thanks to interference from Jimmy, his twin brother, Their reign lasted only nine days. In a rematch, Jey and Cody failed to regain the titles from Bálor and Priest after interference from Drew McIntyre. McIntyre also revealed afterward that he’d accepted Rhea Ripley’s offer to align with The Judgment Day for Survivor Series: WarGames in order to punish Jey.

At Survivor Series: WarGames, Uso, along with Rhodes, Zayn, Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Randy Orton, defeated the team of McIntyre and The Judgment Day (Priest, Bálor, Mysterio, and JD McDonagh) in a WarGames match. On the December 4th episode of RAW, Uso unsuccessfully challenged Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship.
