ISLA DAWN
Courtney Florence Stewart is a 30-year-old Scottish professional wrestler currently signed to WWE. Stewart performs on RAW under the ring name Isla Dawn.
Isla Dawn’s Early Wrestling Career
Stewart made her in-ring debut as Courtney on December 21st 2013, defeating Nikki Storm at SWA End Of Year’s Friends & Family. She then returned on February 21st at SWA The War Of Independence where she teamed with Dave Conrad & Ryan Griffin in a mixed six-person tag team match won by Nikki Storm & The Forgotten (Alex Cavanagh & Glen Dunbar).
Stewart made her debut for Tidal Championship Wrestling on October 17th, 2014 at the Dark Waters event, defeating Ruby Summers. At Reckless Intent’s Under Pressure event on March 3rd 2016, she defeated Nikki Storm in the first women’s match for the promotion. A few weeks later, she competed in Pro-Wrestling: EVE’s first all-female professional wrestling show in London. At the event, titled “Let’s Make History!”, she lost to April Davids by submission.
Stewart made her debut for World Wonder Ring Stardom in 2016 when she was announced as one of the twelve names competing in the 2016 5★Star Grand Prix tournament. From August 21st to September 9th, she competed in the “Red Stars” block. She earned two wins and four losses, ending with a total of four points.
Isla Dawn’s WWE Debut
On November 6th 2017, Dawn debuted on the episode of RAW, wrestling under the name Stacy Coates. She lost to Asuka in a squash. She then competed in the 2018 Mae Young Classic tournament. In the first round, Dawn was eliminated after losing to Nicole Matthews on August 8th, 2018. During day one of the United Kingdom Championship Tournament on June 8th 2018, Dawn made her debut on NXT.
Isla then competed in the first round of the NXT UK Women’s Championship Tournament, but lost again to Storm. She picked up her first televised win by defeating Nina Samuels on the October 31st episode of NXT UK. Dawn fought Rhea Ripley on the December 19th episode of NXT UK, for the NXT UK Women’s Championship, but lost. The following June, Isla Dawn competed in a battle royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT UK Women’s Championship. The battle royal was won by Kay Lee Ray. On April 30th 2020, Dawn fought Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship, but failed to capture the title.
Dawn Challenges for NXT UK Title
On February 11th 202, Isla Dawn fought against the debuting Meiko Satomura and lost. A month later, she returned and defeated Aleah James. On April 1st, Isla attacked the returning Emilia McKenzie, turning Dawn heel in the process. The following week, she teamed with NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray and faced Satomura and McKenzie at NXT UK: Prelude, but they were defeated. On the April 15th episode of NXT UK, Dawn defeated McKenzie. Dawn then competed in a gauntlet match in May to determine the number one contender for the NXT UK Women’s Championship. The tournament which was won by Satomura.
At Meiko Satomura’s celebration, Isla interrupted her and declared she wanted a shot at her title. She then attacked Satomura and stole her flowers. Dawn received her title match on March 24, but lost. After the match, Dawn stole the title belt. Dawn returned the belt to Satomura in April but demanded another match under her own ‘chaotic’ rules.
On the May 5th episode of NXT UK, Isla Dawn got her rematch against Satomura in a World of Darkness match, but failed to win the title again. Dawn fought Blair Davenport to determine the number one contender for the NXT UK Women’s Championship, ending in a no contest. On the final episode of NXT UK, Dawn competed in a four-way elimination match to determine the number one contender to the NXT UK Women’s Championship.
Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn Form The Unholy Union
On the November 15th episode of NXT, Dawn made her first appearance on the American brand by interfering in the Last Woman Standing match for the NXT Women’s Championship. Dawn spit black mist into Alba Fyre’s face, then pushed her off a ladder into the announce table, allowing Mandy Rose to retain her title.
Isla made her in-ring debut on the December 6th episode of NXT by defeating Thea Hail. After the match, Dawn was attacked by Alba Fyre and sprayed poison mist into a referee’s face that was intended for her. Four days later, at Deadline, the two had a match where Dawn was victorious. On the January 23rd 2023 episode of NXT, Dawn fought Fyre in an Extreme Resolution match, which she lost.
At NXT’s Stand & Deliver, Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre teamed together and defeated Fallon Henley and Kiana James to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship. This was the first title in Dawn’s wrestling career. As part of the 2023 WWE Draft, Isla Dawn and Alba Fhyre were drafted to WWE’s SmackDown brand. They made their SmackDown debut on May 19th, 2023 where they defeated Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon.
Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre Drafted to RAW
On the June episode of SmackDown, Dawn and Fyre were confronted by the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, who challenged them to a unification match. At the match, Dawn and Fyre lost the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship on the June 23rd episode of SmackDown. Dawn with Fyre, returned on the December 22nd episode of SmackDown, to attack Damage CTRL during the Holiday Havoc Match. The team of Fyre and Dawn became known as The Unholy Union.
On night 1 of the 2024 WWE Draft, both Dawn and Fyre were drafted to WWE’s RAW brand.
