DOLPH ZIGGLER

Nicholas Theodore Nemeth is a 42-year-old professional wrestler and stand-up comedian from Cleveland, Ohio. Currently, he wrestles for the WWE’s RAW brand under the ring name, Dolph Ziggler.

Nemeth has been a big fan of wrestling since he was a young child. After attending a live wrestling event at Richfield Coliseum, he decided at the age of 12 to become a professional wrestler. In high school, Nemeth was an amateur wrestler at St. Edward high school in Lakewood Ohio where he  holds the school record for most pins in career with 82. He was also a collegiate wrestler for Kent State University.

Nemeth Signs WWE Contract

In 2004, he signed a contract with the WWE and was assigned to WWE’s developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) where he wrestled using his real name. Nemeth made his main roster debut on September 19, 2005 on RAW but after a few months, he was sent back to OVW for a few years.

Nemeth re-debuted on RAW in September 2008 under the ring name, Dolph Ziggler. He lost his first match to Batista in December but had his first televised win a few weeks later against Charlie Haas. Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Championship in July 2010 for the first time. Ziggler’s reign as Intercontinental Champion ended 160 days later when he was defeated by Kofi Kingston.

In June 2011, Dolph Ziggler won his first United States Championship title at the pay-per-view event, Capitol Punishment, defeating Kofi Kingston. He went on to successfully defend the title for 182 days. A year later, Ziggler won the 2012 Money in the Bank ladder match guaranteeing him the opportunity to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at a time of his choosing within the next year. Ziggler cashed in the Money in the Bank in early April and defeated Alberto Del Rio to win the World Heavyweight Championship. His title reign lasted 69 days.

Dolph Ziggler’s Various Feuds

From 2013 to 2016, Ziggler competed in various matches and feuded with talent including Sheamus, Rusev, Tyler Breeze, and Baron Corbin. In July 2016, he became the number one contender for the WWE World Championship. At SummerSlam, Ziggler face reigning champion, Dean Ambrose, for the title but lost. Later that year, Ziggler defeated The Miz to win the Intercontinental Championship at No Mercy.

Since then, Ziggler has won another United States Championship title and has teamed up with Drew McIntyre and Robert Roode while taking on various feuds. In June 2020, Ziggler was traded to RAW and challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules but he failed to win the title at the July 2020 pay-per-view event.

At the October 2020 WWE Draft, Dolph Ziggler was drafted to the SmackDown brand.
