ANDRADE

Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza, better known by his ring name Andrade, is a 34-year-old Mexican professional wrestler currently signed to WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). He competes on the company’s SmackDown brand.

A third-generation wrestler, Andrade comes from a proud lineage of lucha libre. His father, Jose Andrade Salas, competed under the ring name Brillante, while his grandfather, José Andrade, was known as El Moro. Continuing the family tradition, Andrade made his professional wrestling debut on October 3, 2003, just shy of his 14th birthday. His early start in the industry was made possible after his father signed a waiver allowing the local boxing and wrestling commission to issue him a license. He began his career as Brillante Jr., paying tribute to his father.

In 2007, Andrade signed with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), one of Mexico’s premier wrestling promotions. There, he trained under legendary CMLL head trainer El Satánico. Andrade gained international recognition through his work with Los Ingobernables (2014–2015) and his appearances in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) from 2010 to 2015.

Andrade’s Rise from NXT to the Main Roster

On November 19, 2015, he signed a developmental contract with WWE. He reported to the WWE Performance Center to begin training, with a strong focus on improving his English. Veteran trainer Sarah Stock, who spent nearly a decade working with CMLL, played a key role in helping him adapt to WWE’s environment.

His WWE in-ring debut came on January 8, 2016, at an NXT live event in Tampa, Florida, where he competed as “Manny Andrade” and picked up a win over Riddick Moss. He later appeared at NXT TakeOver: Dallas on April 1, defeating Christopher Girard. Soon after, he adopted the ring name “Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas,” with “Cien” meaning “100” in Spanish—a reflection of his confidence and ambition.

From 2015 to 2018, Andrade competed across the NXT brand, showcasing his signature mix of lucha libre technique and aggressive in-ring style. His breakout moment came at NXT TakeOver: WarGames on November 18, 2017, defeating Drew McIntyre to capture the NXT Championship.

The following year, he made a strong impression on WWE’s main roster at the 2018 Royal Rumble. He eliminated Kofi Kingston but was then ousted by Randy Orton. At NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, he lost the NXT Championship to Aleister Black, ending his reign at 140 days.
