Akira Tozawa Feuding for 24/7 Title

Afterwards, he and R-Truth continued feuding over the title, alongside Drew Gulak and others. When Reggie won the title after he was abandoned by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, he and R-Truth began feuding with him. On the September 27th episode of RAW, Tozawa was quickly defeated by Keith “Bearcat” Lee.

In early 2022, after spending months with both him and Tamina Snuka trying to win the 24/7 Title, Tozawa and Tamina ended up becoming lovers. On March 28, they got (kayfabe) engaged. On April 18, Tozawa won the championship for the fifth time by pinning his partner, Tamina, during their wedding ceremony. Tozawa then lost the championship back to Dana Brooke.

Later that month however, due to him being unable to help her win the title, she filed for divorce. Seconds after Tamina laid claim to the 24/7 Title during a special Memorial Day edition of RAW, Akira Tozawa pinned his ex to become the 24/7 Champion.

On the November 14th, 2022 episode of RAW, Tozawa turned face after beating Baron Corbin and JBL in a game of cards. He returned to wearing more traditional ring gear as opposed to his ninja gimmick.

Tozawa Joins The Alpha Academy

Akira Tozawa joined the Alpha Academy as a “junior member,” a role announced in a Digital Exclusive segment prior to the October 23, 2023, episode of RAW. To prove his worth to the stable, Tozawa challenged Bronson Reed to a match but was ultimately defeated.

The following day, Tozawa appeared on Night 1 of NXT: Halloween Havoc, where he stole Noam Dar’s NXT Heritage Cup. On Night 2, Tozawa returned the Cup but managed to provoke Dar into agreeing to a match for the Cup on the next week’s NXT. Competing under British Rounds Rules, Tozawa fell short, losing the match 2-1.

In April 2024, Alpha Academy leader Chad Gable turned heel following repeated failures to capture the Intercontinental Championship. Frustrated, Gable blamed his losses on spending too much time training his “loser” stablemates and declared that the stable’s sole focus would now be to secure him the Intercontinental title.

Over the next few weeks, Gable subjected his stablemates to harsh treatment for not assisting him in winning through underhanded tactics. On the June 17 episode of RAW, Akira Tozawa, alongside Otis and Maxxine Dupri, had enough and walked out on Gable, effectively leaving Alpha Academy. Otis then stepped up as the new leader of the group.

On the July 15th episode of RAW, Otis, Dupri, and Tozawa joined forces with Xavier Woods from The New Day to aid him in his feud against The Final Testament. However, the following week, the team of Otis, Tozawa, and Woods was defeated in a six-man tag match by The Final Testament’s Karrion Kross and The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar).

After the match, Gable, now aligned with the Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus), attempted to persuade Otis, Tozawa, and Dupri to reunite with him. When Otis refused, Gable and the Creed Brothers launched a brutal attack on Otis and his allies, leaving them beaten down in the ring.
