Before signing with WWE, he played football at the university level, competing for Hampton University and the University of South Carolina. He attended the NFL camp of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018 but was not signed by the team.

WWE Contract & Debut

Belton trained at the Combat Zone Wrestling Academy in New Jersey before making his way to WWE. He signed with the company in February 2021. He made his in-ring debut alongside Carmelo Hayes in a four-way elimination match for the NXT Tag Team Titles, though they were unsuccessful in capturing the titles.

On the November 2nd, 2021, episode of NXT, Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes achieved a significant victory, defeating the veteran duo of Dexter Lumis and Tommaso Ciampa. Williams made his singles debut on the December 21st episode of NXT 2.0 losing to Dexter Lumis. From February to September 2022, he wrestled in both singles and tag matches with Carmelo Hayes. Williams also racked up wins against Ikemen Jiro, Guru Raaj, Javier Bernal, Wes Lee, Dante Chen and Myles Born.

At NXT Worlds Collide 2022, Williams accompanied his tag team partner and close friend, Carmelo Hayes, to ringside for his NXT North American Championship defense against Ricochet. Throughout the match, Williams played a key role in helping Hayes retain the title, interfering multiple times to disrupt Ricochet’s momentum. Thanks to Williams’ interference, Hayes successfully defended his championship. However, two days later, on the September 6th episode of NXT 2.0, Ricochet got his revenge. He faced off against Trick Williams and emerged victorious, defeating Williams in a one-on-one match.
