JOE GACY

Joseph Ruby is a 35-year-old professional wrestler from Franklinville, New Jersey. He is currently signed to WWE as a part of the NXT brand and performs under the ring name, Joe Gacy.

Ruby started his wrestling career in 2016 with Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). He was a prominent figure in the promotion and held the CZW World Heavyweight Championship and the CZW Wired Championship three times each. During this time, Ruby also worked for Evolve wrestling and other promotions. He won the Evolve Tag Team Championship’s with AEW (All Elite Wrestling) performer, Eddie Kingston.

Joe also wrestled for promotions such as BCW (BriiCombination Wrestling), DCW (Dynamite Championship Wrestling), and GBW (Ground Breaking Wrestling) before being signed to WWE in 2020 under the ring name Joe Gacy.

Joe Gacy’s WWE Debut 


In 2020, Joe Gacy signed with WWE after WWE bought Evolve Pro Wrestling. He started his training at the WWE Performance Center in October 2020 and made his television debut on the July 2 2021 episode of 205 Live, defeating Desmond Troy. This win earned him a spot in the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament.

Gacy competed in the tournament but lost in the first round to Trey Baxter. On September 21 2021, Joe revealed his new gimmick as someone who wants to make NXT his safe space. He then had a winning match against Ikeman Jiro. The following week, he lost to Tommaso Ciampa. Gacy then formed an alliance with Harland who would become his bodyguard.

Cruiserweight Championship Feud

On the November 23rd episode of NXT 2.0, Joe Gacy convinced Roderick Strong to give him a Cruiserweight Championship match even though he was over 205 pounds. The match took place at NXT WarGames and Gacy said he was going to make the title all-inclusive instead of it just being for cruiserweights. At War Games, Gacy failed to win the match and the title.
