BRON BREAKKER

Bronson Rechsteiner is a 26-year-old professional wrestler from Georgia. Rechsteiner is currently signed to WWE where he performs on its SmackDown brand under the ring name, Bron Breakker.

Rechsteiner is a second generation professional wrestler. He is the son of Rick Steiner and the nephew of Scott Steiner. In high school, Rechsteiner played football and was on his school’s wrestling team. He majored in criminal justice at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. As a freshman, Bronson played for the Kennesaw State Owls and as a freshman, played special teams and defense. In 2017, he moved to offense as a running back. He also competed on the Kennesaw wrestling team.

In April 2020, Rechsteiner was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent fullback. He was released a few months later in August. Rechsteiner made his professional wrestling debut on October 8th 2020 in Ringgold, Georgia at the “WrestleJam 8” event. The event was promoted by AWF/WOW and in his debut, Rechsteiner defeated Jamie Hall.

WWE Contract & Debut

In February 2021, WWE announced that they had signed Rechsteiner to a contract. Later that month, he was assigned to the WWE Performance Center in Florida for training.

At the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view in May 2021, Rechsteiner and several other wrestlers portrayed “zombies” in a lumberjack match between Damian Priest and The Miz.

Bronson made his wrestling debut at the September 14th episode of NXT. In his debut, he defeated LA Knight and assumed the ring name, Bron Breakker. He later had a faceoff with new NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa. Breakker then challenged Ciampa for the title at the Halloween Havoc television special on October 26. Breakker lost to Ciampa at the event.

Bron Breakker Wins NXT Championship Title

At NXT’s December 5th WarGames pay-per-view event, Breakker teamed with Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller and Tony D’Angelo (Team 2.0). Together they defeated Tommaso Ciampa, LA Knight, Johnny Gargano and Pete Dunne (Team Black and Gold) in a WarGames match.

At New Year’s Evil on January 4, 2022, Breakker defeated Ciampa by submission and won the NXT Championship. Breakker lost the NXT Championship on March 8, 2022 to Dolph Ziggler in a triple threat match. His reign lasted 63 days.

Bron Breakker regained the WWE NXT Championship after defeating Ziggler on the April 4 2022 episode of Monday Night RAW. On the following episode of NXT, he retained the title against Gunther. He then began feuding with Joe Gacy after Gacy kidnapped Rick Steiner. This led to a match between Breakker and Gacy at Spring Breakin’ on May 3rd where Breakker defeated Gacy.

At NXT’s In Your House on June 4th, Bron defeated Gacy in a rematch, with the added stipulation that he would lose the title if he got disqualified. On July 5th, at the  Great American Bash, Breakker retained the title against Cameron Grimes. But, he was attacked by the debuting J. D. McDonagh after the match. Breakker retained the title against McDonagh at Heatwave on August 16. After the match, he was confronted by NXT United Kingdom Champion, Tyler Bate. At Worlds Collide on September 4, Breakker defeated Bate to unify the NXT Championship and NXT United Kingdom Championship. Breakker defeated McDonagh and Ilja Dragunov in a triple threat match to retain the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc on October 22. He then successfully defended the NXT Championship against Apollo Crews at NXT’s Deadline on December 10.

Breakker Loses NXT Championship

At New Year’s Evil on January 10, 2023, Breakker defeated Grayson Waller via countout to retain the NXT Championship. He defeated Waller again at Vengeance Day on February 4, this time in a cage match. On April 1st, however, Breakker lost the championship to Carmelo Hayes, ending his second reign at 362 days.

At Battleground on May 28, Breakker failed to regain the NXT Championship from Hayes. He unsuccessfully challenged Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at NXT Gold Rush on June 20. At Heatwave on August 22, Breakker attacked Von Wagner and then on the September 6 episode of NXT, he bludgeoned Wagner with a set of steel steps. Later that month, Breakker took part in the Superstar Spectacle in Hyderabad, India, defeating Odyssey Jones.

In January 2024, Bron Breakker entered the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, pairing with Baron Corbin as the “Wolf Dogs.” In the first round, the duo defeated Gallus and Axiom and Nathan Frazer in the semifinals. Later that month, Breakker made his Royal Rumble match debut at the titular event, entering at number 20 and eliminating Jimmy Uso, Finn Bálor, Ivar, and Omos before being eliminated by “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio. At NXT Vengeance Day the following month, Breakker and Corbin defeated Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The following night on RAW, Breakker made his second appearance on the main roster in a backstage segment with Imperium, debating whether he should sign to RAW or SmackDown. On the February 13th episode of NXT, the Wolf Dogs defeated The Family (Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) to win the NXT Tag Team Championship.
