RODERICK STRONG

Christopher Lindsey is a 37-year-old American professional wrestler. He is signed to the WWE and performs on NXT under the ring name, Roderick Strong.

Lindsey made his professional wrestling debut under the ring name, The Jester, for Florida’s independent wrestling circuit, RWA. He wrestled his first match for the Independent Professional Wrestling promotion in a 20 man cruiser-weight battle royal match. Lindsey teamed with Sedrick Strong to form the Strong Brothers and won the IPW Tag Team Championship on June 28, 2002. After IPW shut down in 2003, he began working for NWA Florida.

Lindsey joined Ring of Honor in 2003 and won numerous ROH titles including the World Championship title and the World Tag Team Championship. He also worked for Full Impact Pro, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Noah in Japan, and Pro Wrestling Guerilla.

Roderick Strong’s WWE Debut

In October 2016, Lindsey debuted on NXT as Austin Aries’ tag team partner in the second Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic defeating Otis and Tucker. WWE announced that Lindsey was one of the recruits officially joining the Performance Center. At NXT TakeOver: San Antonio, he defeated Andrade Cien Almas.

In 2018, Roderick Strong joined the Undisputed Era at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans after turning on his partner Pete Dunne. Strong teamed with O’Reilly to defend the NXT Tag Team Championships. In June 2018, Strong and O’Reilly lost the titles to Tyler Bate and Trent Seven but regained the titles on July 11. In January 2019, Strong and O’Reilly were defeated by the War Raiders in a match that ended their reign at 219 days.

Roderick Strong Wins NXT North American Championship

In 2019, Strong defeated Velveteen Dream to win the NXT North American Championship, giving him his first single title in WWE. Strong’s reign as NXT North American Champion ended when he was defeated by Keith Lee in January 2020.

In July 2020, Strong started feuding with Dexter Lumis since he had helped Velveteen Dream in his war against The Undisputed Era. Lumis then kidnapped Strong during the NXT “In Your House” pay-per-view event in June 2020 to ensure Strong wasn’t able to interfere in Adam Cole’s match with Dream. Despite being returned to his allies, Strong was traumatized by the kidnapping and became deathly afraid of Dexter Lumis.

Strong’s teammates attempted to alleviate his sudden panic and fear by having him go to therapy but his therapist was Kyle O’Reilly in disguise due to Adam Cole’s paranoia that Strong might renounce villainy as a result of his encounter with Dexter. In the July 2020 TV special “The Great American Bash,” Strong fought and lost to Dexter Lumis in a strap match.

On the March 24, 2021 episode of NXT, Strong was approached by Cameron Grimes who tried to negotiate a “business deal” with him. Strong rejected the offer by punching Grimes. On the March 31st episode of NXT, Strong lost to Cameron Grimes. Later in the show McKenzie Mitchell would attempt to interview him but Strong walked off and said he was done.
