Austin Jenkins is a 31-year-old professional wrestler from Coral Springs, Florida. He is currently signed to the WWE and performs on NXT under the ring name, Adam Cole. He is the leader of The Undisputed Era, alongside Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong.

While still a senior in high school, Jenkins began training for a professional wrestling career at Combat Zone Wrestling’s Academy. He made his wrestling debut in June 2008 for the promotion where he teamed with The Reason and lost to GNC.

In May 2010, Jenkins defeated defending champion Sabian and Ruckus in a three-way match at Fist Fight for the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship. He lost the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship to Callihan in November 2012 ending his reign at a record 553 days.

Jenkins Wrestles on the Independent Circuit

From 2009 to 2017, Jenkins wrestled on the independent circuit for various promotions. In February 2009, he made his debut in Ring of Honor losing a match to John Kerman at ROH tapings. He signed a contract with ROH in August 2010. Cole won his first ROH championship defeating Roderick Strong to become the ROH World Television Champion in June 2012 at a taping of Ring of Honor Wrestling. On March 2, 2013, Cole lost the World Television Championship to Matt Taven, ending his reign at 246 days.

In May 2016, Cole joined Bullet Club, teaming up with the Young Bucks to defeat War Machine and Moose. He then defeated Jay Lethal at Death Before Dishonor XIV to win the ROH World Championship for the second time. Cole lost the title to Kyle O’Reilly in December 2016. Cole was kicked out of the Bullet Club in May 2017 after Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks turned on him.

WWE Contract & Debut

Jenkins was signed by WWE in August 2017 and made his debut at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn III. In his debut, he attacked then NXT Champion Drew McIntyre alongside Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Riley, establishing himself as a heel. The following month, the trio of Cole, Fish and O’Reilly was officially dubbed, “The Undisputed Era.”

In November 2017, The Undisputed Era faced Sanity and the team of Authors of Pain at NXT TakeOver: Wargames where they were victorious. Cole competed in a qualifying match for a fatal-four-way number one contender’s match for the NXT Championship but was defeated by Aleister Black.

Adam Cole’s Main Roster Debut

In January 2018, Adam Cole made his main roster debut at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. He was eliminated by Rey Mysterio. On April 7, 2018, Adam Cole became the inaugural NXT North American Champion at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in a ladder match. Later that night, he won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as well as defended the NXT Tag Team Championship in a triple threat Winner Take All match with Kyle O’Reilly. At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, Cole lost the NXT North American Championship to Ricochet, ending his reign at 133 days.

On March 20, 2019, Cole defeated Velveteen Dream, Ricochet, Black and Matt Riddle in a Fatal 5-Way match for the right to face Johnny Gargano for the vacant NXT Championship. In a two-out-of-three falls match, Johnny Gargano defeated Cole 2-1. But in a rematch at NXT TakeOver: XXV, Cole defeated Gargano to win the championship for the first time. For the rest of 2019, Adam Cole successfully defended the championship against various contenders. On March 19, 2020, Cole became the longest reigning NXT Champion, breaking Finn Bálor’s previous record of 292 days and he surpassed the one year mark as champion on June 1, 2020.

During the second night of The Great American Bash on July 8, Cole lost the NXT Championship to NXT North American Champion Keith Lee in a Winner Takes All match, ending Cole’s record-breaking reign at 403 days. After he lost the championship, Adam Cole began feuding with announcer Pat McAfee after they got into an argument on McAfee’s talk show. At NXT TakeOver: XXX, Cole defeated McAfee.
