WWE LEGEND MICHAEL ‘VIRGIL’ JONES PASSES AWAY AT 61
WWE announced yesterday that former superstar and WWE Legend, Virgil (real name Michael Jones) passed away at the age of 61 on February 28, 2024. Jones was a professional wrestler and actor and was best known for his eight year career with the World Wrestling Federation, now WWE. In 1985, Jones started his professional wrestling career in the Championship Wrestling Association. Jones had his first match with the WWF in 1987 where he wrestled “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and lost. WWF rebranded Jones and a year later, he debuted as “Virgil” the bodyguard for “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase. Jones retired from full-time in-ring action in 2000. Ten years later, Jones came out of retirement to wrestle with Ted DiBiase in a tag team match. Michael “Virgil” Jones held the AWA’s International Heavyweight Championship, the NJCW Heavyweight Championship, the USWL Intercontinental Championship and the WWE’s Million Dollar Championship.
