Catherine Joy “CJ” Perry is a professional wrestler, professional wrestling manager, actor, dancer, model and singer. She is currently signed with the WWE and performs on the RAW brand under the ring name, Lana.

Catherine Perry spent a portion of her childhood growing up in Latvia and from an early age, she dreamed of becoming a ballerina like her mother. In high school, she attended the Riga Choreography School (the ballet school of the Latvian National Opera) and began dancing with the Latvian National Ballet at the age of 14. When she was 17 years old, Perry returned to the United States and danced at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ballet Hispanico, Broadway Dance Center, and Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance.

Perry attended Florida State University and studied dance and acting. She later began modelling and worked as a spokes model for the energy drinks Matrix and Red Bull. In 2009, Perry joined the music group, No Means Yes, a girls group that was signed to Ne-Yo’s record label. No Means Yes released one single, “Would You Like That”, and recorded two others (“7 Years Bad Luck” and “Burn Rubber”) before disbanding in 2010.

In June 2013, Perry signed with the WWE and was sent to the company’s developmental brand, NXT. She debuted in October that year acting as a social ambassador/manager for the wrestler, Rusev. She was assigned the ring name, Lana, and spoke with a Russian accent. Together, Rusev and Lana made their main roster debut on SmackDown on January 31, 2014.

In 2016, Lana made her in-ring debut at WrestleMania 32 in a tag team match against Brie Bella. Throughout 2017 Lana competed in various matches including the women’s Money in the Bank and the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble in 2018. She teamed with Rusev in a mixed match to defeat Elias and Bayley. That match was Lana’s first in-ring win. Lana also competed in WrestleMania 35’s annual Women’s WrestleMania battle royal match but did not win.

In September 2019, Lana turned heel on her husband, Rusev, and kissed Bobby Lashley during Rusev’s Universal Championship match against Seth Rollins. Rusev, who is Perry’s real life husband, was released from the WWE in April 2020, but Lana has remained active on RAW.

In June 2020, Lana aligned herself with Natalya by distracting Liv Morgan which helped Natalya win her match. In August 2020, Lana and Natalya began feuding with Mickie James who recently returned to in-ring action in August 2020.
