AKAM
Sunny Dhinsa, a 31-year-old professional wrestler from Abbotsford, British Columbia, competes under the ring name Akam. He is currently signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he performs on the RAW brand. Akam is part of the tag team Authors of Pain alongside his partner Rezar, and together they are also affiliated with the Final Testament stable.
Early Wrestling Career
Sunny Dhinsa attended Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, where he gained recognition as an outstanding college wrestler. He dominated the Canadian national freestyle wrestling scene, winning the national heavyweight title in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Dhinsa also earned a gold medal in the 115 kg category at the 2009 Canada Summer Games and a silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara. In 2012, he competed in the Olympic qualification tournament but was unable to secure a spot after losing to Dremiel Byers. Shortly after, he transitioned from amateur wrestling to professional wrestling, signing with WWE in 2014.
WWE Contract & Debut
In 2014, Sunny Dhinsa signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and began his training at the WWE Performance Center. He made his in-ring debut at an NXT house show, competing in a battle royal. In 2016, Dhinsa formed the tag team Authors of Pain with Gzim Selmani, who would become known as Rezar. The duo made their official debut under the ring names Akam and Rezar on June 8, 2016, at NXT TakeOver: The End.
Akam and Rezar quickly made an impact in NXT, winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic by defeating TM-61 at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. They went on to capture the NXT Tag Team Championship by defeating #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio. The Authors of Pain successfully defended their titles in several high-profile matches, but their reign came to an end at NXT TakeOver: WarGames, where they lost the championships to SAnitY. Their reign as NXT Tag Team Champions lasted 202 days.
