SLAPJACK

Shane Veryzer is a 35-year-old professional wrestler from Australia. He wrestles for WWE and performs on RAW under the ring name, SLAPJACK.

Veryzer started his wrestling career in 2003 for the wrestling school, Explosive Pro Wrestling. His debut match took place in February 2003 in a four-way match at The Uprising. Since then, he has become one of Australia’s top wrestlers and held the EPW Heavyweight Champion and the EPW Tag Team Champion twice. After working all over Australia, he moved to California and started working for some of the biggest independent wrestling promotions in the US. He wrestled for Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Ohio Valley Wrestling and World League Wrestling.

Veryzer is best known for his time wrestling for Pro Wrestling Noah where he was a GHC Tag Team Championship twice with Mikey Nicholls. He also wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Veryzer’s WWE Contract & NXT Debut

In 2016, he signed with WWE and was assigned to the developmental territory, NXT. He was assigned the ring name, Shane Thorne, and was put in a tag team with Nick Miller, called TM61.

On May 25, TM61 had their debut match against Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa in a losing effort. They entered the 2016 and 2018 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic but lost both. In late 2018 the team disbanded due to Nick Miller being released from the company. In 2019, Thorne started a solo run and was in the Worlds Collide Tournament losing in the first round to Adam Cole.

Later that same year, he started a storyline where he would complain about not being included in the NXT Breakout Tournament and had matches with Joaquin Wilde and Bronson Reed. He also had a short rivalry with Johnny Gargano and lost a match against him.

Thorne’s Main Roster Debut

In March 2020, Thorne began appearing on RAW alongside his former TMDK stablemate Brendan Vink. On the April 27th episode of RAW, Thorne and Vink became MVP’s newest associates, as he challenged Cedric Alexander and Ricochet to a match the next week on their behalf. On the May 4th episode of RAW, Thorne and Vink defeated Alexander and Ricochet, earning their first victory. Their alliance ended after Thorne and Vink were both traded back to NXT.

On September 21st, 2020, Thorne was revealed as one of the main members of the Retribution faction, under the new ring name, “SlapJack.”

At the 2020 Hell in a Cell event, Slapjack challenged Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship, but was unsuccessful. Retribution disbanded at the Fastlane Kickoff Show in February 2020. Both Reckoning and Slapjack walked out on Ali, then T-Bar and Mace performed a double chokeslam on Ali after he lost a match for the WWE United States Championship to Riddle.

On April 19, 2021, it was announced that SlapJack and fellow Retribution member, Reckoning, would be moving to Friday Night SmackDown.
