TAMINA

Sarona Moana-Marie Reiher Snuka is a 45-year-old professional wrestler from Vancouver, Washington. She currently wrestles on WWE’s Monday Night RAW under the ring name, Tamina.

Snuka is a second-generation wrestler. Her father is WWE Hall of Famer, Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka. She began her wrestling career after she received the first Lia Maivia Scholarship to train in professional wrestling career at the Wild Samoan Training Center.

Snuka’s WWE Contract & Debut

Snuka signed with WWE in 2010 and made her debut on May 24, 2010 on RAW as a heel. At her debut, she teamed with Jimmy and Jey Uso, and attacked the Unified Tag Team Champions, The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith, and Natalya). This sparked a long-standing feud between the two stables.

One month later, Tamina and the Usos were defeated by the Hart Dynasty in a six-person mixed tag team match, after Natalya pinned Tamina. Three weeks later, they won their first match by defeating The Hart Dynasty in a six-person mixed tag team match.

Snuka competed in a Divas battle royal in September 2010. This match was to determine the number one contender for the WWE Divas Championship. She was then drafted to SmackDown as part of the 2011 supplemental draft. On the May 27th episode of SmackDown, Tamina debuted as a heel and defeated The Chickbusters with Alicia Fox.

She received her title shot at Elimination Chamber but was defeated by reigning champion, Beth Phoenix. In August 2012, Snuka suffered a back injury sidelining her for three months. She returned to in-ring action in November and defeated Alicia Fox.

Snuka unsuccessfully challenged Kaitlyn for the Divas Championship at Elimination Chamber 2013. She then competed in the NXT Women’s Championship tournament to crown the inaugural champion. She lost in the first round of the tournament to Paige. In September 2013, Snuka returned to WWE television as the bodyguard for WWE Divas Champion, AJ Lee. She helped her retain the title by interfering in numerous matches.

Tamina’s WrestleMania Debut

Snuka made her WrestleMania debut in 2014. She competed at WrestleMania 30 in the 14-Diva “Vickie Guerrero Invitational match” for the WWE Divas Championship but was unsuccessful. Tamina won a battle royal to become the number one contender to Paige’s Divas Championship. She then faced Paige for the Divas Championship at Extreme Rules in May 2014 but lost. The following month, she underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL.

She made her in-ring return on RAW’s May 11th episode and defeated Brie Bella. Tamina and Naomi then formed a tag team and defeated the Bella Twins in a tag team match at WWE’s PayBack pay-per-view. In July 2015, Stephanie McMahon called for a “revolution” in the Divas division. She introduced the debuting NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks as an ally to Tamina and Naomi.

The trio of Tamina, Naomi and Banks was later dubbed Team B.A.D. (Beautiful and Dangerous). At Battleground, a triple threat match took place with Sasha Banks representing Team B.A.D., against Charlotte of PCB and Brie Bella for Team Bella in a losing effort. The three teams faced off at SummerSlam in a three team elimination match. At the match, Team B.A.D. was the first team to be eliminated courtesy of Team Bella. Tamina was pinned by Brie and PCB would win the match.

Tamina Leaves Team B.A.D.

In February 2016, Tamina and Naomi attacked Sasha Banks after announcing she would no longer be a part of Team B.A.D. The feud between them continued throughout February and led to a match at Fastlane. Tamina and Naomi lost to Sasha Banks and her partner, Becky Lynch. In May 2016, she underwent knee surgery to repair torn ligaments and returned to in-ring action on SmackDown in February, 2017.

Snuka competed in a five-way elimination match in July 2017 to determine the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Tamina was eliminated by Becky Lynch. Two months later, she participated in a fatal four-way match to determine the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Tamina competed against Becky Lynch, Naomi and the returning Charlotte Flair, who won.

At the Royal Rumble in 2018, Tamina joined as entrant number seven in the first women’s Royal Rumble match. She was eliminated by Lita. After the Royal Rumble, Tamina went on hiatus to have surgery for a torn rotator cuff.

Tamina’s Return to WWE

Tamina returned to in-ring action on RAW’s October 15th episode in 2018. At WWE Evolution, she was one of the final competitors in the woman’s battle royal but was eliminated by Ember Moon. She also competed at the Royal Rumble in January 2019 but was eliminated by Charlotte.

Tamina and Nia Jax then formed an alliance and teamed up to compete at Elimination Chamber in a match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. They failed to win after being eliminated by Bayley, Sasha Banks, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose. They also didn’t win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at Fastlane in March.

Tamina Wins 24/7 Championship

At WrestleMania 35, Tamina and Nia Jax competed in a Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Later that year, Tamina returned to action at Hell in a Cell. She defeated Carmella backstage for the 24/7 Championship. The 24/7 Championship was Tamina’s first championship of her wrestling career. She lost the title to R-Truth later that night.

At the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match, Tamina entered as entrant number #14. She lasted less than a minute as she was eliminated by Bianca Belair. At WrestleMania 36, Tamina competed in a Fatal 5-Way Elimination match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship held by Bayley. Tamina was the first woman eliminated after the four women hit moves from the top rope and pinned her at once.

In May 2020, she wrestled Bayley at Money In The Bank for the SmackDown Women’s Championship but was unsuccessful.

Natalya & Tamina WWE Tag Team Champions

On May 14th’s episode of SmackDown, Tamina and Natalya defeated Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. They lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles to Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley on the September 20 episode of Monday Night RAW.

As part of the WWE Draft in October 2021, Tamina was drafted to Monday Night RAW.

On the January 3rd episode of RAW, Tamina failed to win the WWE 24/7 Championship from Dana Brooke in a mixed tag team match also involving Reggie and Akira Tozawa. Tamina, Tozawa, and R-Truth then spent months trying unsuccessfully to win the title from Reggie and later Dana Brooke in various backstage segments on RAW.

Tamina did win the title on the April 18 edition of RAW, during a double wedding ceremony, but lost it to her partner, Akira Tozawa. Later that month however, due to him being unable to help her win the title, she filed for divorce.

When all-out bedlam overtook “Miz TV” during a special Memorial Day edition of Raw, Tamina managed to use the chaos to overcome Dane Brooke and lay claim to the 24/7 Title. Seconds after she laid claim to the 24/7 Title, Akira Tozawa pinned
Tamina to become the 24/7 Champion.

Tamina and Dana Brooke’s Allegiance

After having an ongoing feud with Dana Brooke for the WWE 24/7 Championship, the two women began teaming together. On the August 5th episode of Smackdown, a tag team tournament to crown new champions was announced. Tamina and Brooke were announced as a team on the August 8th episode of RAW.

Tamina and Dana Brooke lost in the first round against Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai. Due to an injury from Gigi Dolin after her and Jacy Jayne won round 1 against Natalya and Sonya Deville, it was announced on the August 22 episode of Raw that Tamina and Dana Brooke would be participating in a Second Chance Fatal Four Way to re-enter the Women’s Tag Team Tournament on the August 26 episode of Smackdown, in which they lost.
