ORO MENSAH

Oliver Carter is a Swiss-Ghanaian professional wrestler who is currently signed with World Wrestling Entertainment. He performs on WWE’s NXT brand under the ring name, Oro Mensah.

Carter made his professional wrestling debut in 2012 for Swiss Championship Wrestling (SCW). From 2012 to 2019, he wrestled for various promotions including New European Championship Wrestling, Classic Wrestling Entertainment, Swiss Wrestling Entertainment, and Westside Xtreme Wrestling. Carter has also held various titles including the SWE Championship and SCW Tag Team Championship, the NEW World Heavyweight Championship, the GWF Tag Team Championship and others.

Oliver Carter’s WWE Debut

Carter made his WWE NXT UK debut on April 19 2019 in a dark match losing to Kassius Ohno. He wrestled several matches in 2019 for NXT and NXT UK before forming a tag team with Ashton Smith. Throughout 2020 and 2021, Carter and Smith wrestled various NXT tag teams including Imperium, Gallus, and Pretty Deadly. They participated in a WWE NXT UK Tag Team Title #1 Contendership Fatal Four Way Elimination match but were unsuccessful.

In November 2021, they competed in another tournament to become number one contenders for the UK Tag Team Titles. They defeated Symbiosis in the first round. In the second round, they beat Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz to win the tournament. On February 24 2022, Smith and Carter challenged Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) for the titles but lost. The following week in singles action, Oliver Carter beat Tyler Bate.

Carter & Smith Win NXT UK Gold

On the June 2nd episode of WWE’s NXT UK (which was taped in April 2022), Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter won the NXT UK Tag Team Championships. Smith and Carter defeated Moustache Mountain and Die Familie (Rohan Raja & Teoman) in a triple threat match in the main event.

As a result of an injury Ashton Smith suffered, Oliver Carter and Smith had to vacate their titles as of June 23rd 2022. They were previously scheduled to defend the titles on the June 23rd show against Joe Briggs and Brooks Jensen.

New Ring Name Oro Mensah

On the September 13 2022 episode of NXT, a video promo was shown to reintroduce Carter under the ring name, Oro Mensah. His debut was announced for the following week’s episode. At his debut match, Mensah defeated Grayson Waller to qualify for the NXT North American Championship ladder match at Halloween Havoc. At the pay-per-view event, Oro Mensah lost to Wes Lee.
