Curtis Jonathan Hussey is a 39-year-old professional wrestler from Portland, Maine. He is currently signed to WWE’s NXT brand and wrestles under the ring name, Fandango.

Hussey was trained by Killer Kowalski and made his professional wrestling career in 1999. He competed in several independent promotions in New England for the first few years of his career. From 2000 to 2003, Hussey wrestled in Power League Wrestling and won the PLW New England Championship.

Hussey’s Early Career

During this time, Hussey also wrestled for Premier Wrestling Federation and teamed with Kenn Phoenix to win the PWF Northeast Tag Team Championship from Fuzion on October 28, 2002. They retained the titles for a few weeks before losing it to Paiva and Kid Mikaze in November.

The following year, Hussey and Phoenix, now known as The Talent Exchange, wrestled in a TLC match and regained the titles on February 15, 2003 but lost them on April 3, 2003. Hussey also wrestled for NWA: Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Chaotic Wrestling and NWA Wildside.

Hussey’s WWE Contract

In 2006, Hussey signed a developmental contract with WWE and was assigned to the company’s developmental territory, Deep South Wrestling (DSW). He made his debut in November in a losing match to David Heath.

In 2008, Hussey was moved to WWE’s Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) where he won the Florida Tag Team Championship with Tyler Reks and also with Derrick Batemen. In 2012, FCW was re-branded to NXT and Hussey made his in-ring debut on the season premiere episode of NXT on December 7, 2012, where he defeated fellow rookie, Jacob Novak.

In 2013, Hussey debuted on SmackDown as a new ballroom dancer character, Fandango. He had his first match at Wrestlemania 29 where he defeated Chris Jericho after they had feuded on SmackDown over the pronunciation of Fandango’s name. The following night, he defeated Kofi Kingston on Monday Night RAW.

In 2016, Fandango teamed with Goldust in the WWE Tag Team Championship number one contender’s tournament but were eliminated in the first round by The Vaudevillains. A month later, Fandango aligned with Tyler Breeze and they became known as Breezango. Together they wrestled numerous teams racking up victories and some losses. At WrestleMania 33, Fandango competed in the André the Giant Battle Royal, but was unsuccessful.

Fandango Out of Action

As part of the 2019 Superstar Shake-Up, Breezango was moved to RAW. In August 2019, WWE announced that Fandango had suffered a left labrum tear in his shoulder and that he would be out of action at least six months. He returned a year later on an episode of NXT saving Tyler Breeze from a post-match attack by The Forgotten Sons. Breezango then began a feud with The Forgotten Sons.

After undergoing ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction in December 2019, Fandango returned six months later in June 2020 on an episode of NXT to team with Tyler Breeze where they defeated Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch and The Undisputed Era in a number one contender’s match for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Breezango Becomes Tag Team Champions

On the June 17 episode of NXT, Breezango failed to win the titles from Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel). But at NXT TakeOver XXX, Breezango defeated Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, and Legado del Fantasma in a triple threat tag team match becoming the number one contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

On the August 26, 2020 episode of NXT, Breezango defeated Imperium to win the titles, marking Fandango’s first title in WWE, nearly ten years after his NXT debut. On October 21st’s episode of NXT, Fandango and Tyler Breeze lost the titles to Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.
