Ashton Trent Smith is a 34-year-old Jamaican professional wrestler. Smith is currently signed with World Wrestling Entertainment and performs on its NXT UK brand.

Smith grew up watching WWE and was a fan of superstars including Hulk Hogan, Big Boss Man, Razor Ramon and The Rock. He played football as a child but then began pursuing his interest in professional wrestling. Smith trained for a career in professional wrestling at Sovereign Championship Wrestling school.

Ashton Smith’s Early Wrestling Career

On February 11 2007, Smith debuted in British wrestling for Triple X Wrestling (TXW) in a losing match to Zack Sabre Jr. He worked for TXW for several months and wrestled his final match losing to Spud. From 2007 to 2013, Ashton Smith wrestled for British independent promotions including SAS Wrestling, Pro Championship Wrestling,  Alternative Wrestling World, One Pro Wrestling, International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom (IPW:UK), Frontier Wrestling Alliance, Pro Evolution Wrestling and Devon Wrestling Association.

In 2014, Smith debuted for Preston City Wrestling where he competed in a 30-Man Royal Rumble for the Preston City Wrestling Heavyweight Championship. From 2014 to 2018, Smith also wrestled for other promotions including FutureShock Wrestling, Grand Pro Wrestling, and Insane Championship Wrestling. During these years, Smith won FutureShock Wrestling’s Championship title, the GPW British Championship and GPW Tag Team Championship, and the ICW Tag Team Championship twice with Rampage Brown.

Ashton Smith Debuts On WWE

On the opening night of NXT At Download 2018, Smith debuted and competed in a number one contender tournament for the WWE United Kingdom Championship. He advanced in the first round after eliminating Joseph Conners. Two nights later, Smith returned for the third night of NXT At Download. He teamed with Dave Mastiff to defeat The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake) by disqualification. A few weeks later, he returned at the opening night of the 2018 WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament. Smith wrestled in the quarter finals of the UK Championship Number One Contender tournament but was eliminated by Travis Banks.

In 2019, Ashton Smith formed a tag team with Oliver Carter. He also performed as a singles wrestler with NXT UK. Throughout 2020 and 2021, Smith and Carter compete against numerous teams winning matches against such teams as Pretty Deadly, The Outliers, Symbiosis, and Gallus.

On the June 2nd episode of WWE’s NXT UK, Smith and Carter defeated previous champions Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) and Die Familie (Teoman and Rohan Raja) in a triple threat match on NXT UK, in London, England.

As a result of an injury he suffered, Ashton Smith and his tag team partner Oliver Carter had to vacate their titles as of June 23rd 2022. They were previously scheduled to defend the titles on the June 23rd show against Joe Briggs and Brooks Jensen.
