MARK ANDREWS

Mark Andrews is a 29-year-old professional wrestler from Cardiff, Wales. Andrews is currently signed to WWE and performs on the NXT UK brand.

Mark Andrews started his wrestling training at only 13 years old with the NWA Wales training school in Newport. Andrews also traveled to Kent to train at NWA UK Hammerlock’s training camps three times per year.

Mark Andrews’ Early Wrestling Career

Andrews made his professional wrestling debut in 2006 for NWA Wales in a battle royal. Shortly after his debut, he started wearing a mask to conceal his young age from audiences. He adopted the ring name, The Lightning Kid. Most of his in-ring appearances in 2006 and 2007 took place in promotions in South Wales. He made his first appearance outside of Wales at the 2007 Holbrooks Festival in Coventry. It was there that he met his long-time friend and rival, Pete Dunne.

Andrews continued wrestling on the independent circuit making appearances for British Championship Wrestling, Premier British Wrestling, Insane Championship Wrestling, Frontier Wrestling Alliance and then in Attack! Pro Wrestling.

Andrews also began wrestling for US promotions including Chikara, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG). He also worked for international promotions like Progress Wrestling and Germany’s award-winning promotion, Westside Xtreme Wrestling.

Mark Andrews’ Wrestling Accomplishments

Throughout the years, he has held numerous championship titles for various wrestling promotions. He held both the Progress World Championship and Progress Tag Team Championship. While wrestling for Attack! Pro Wrestling, he held the 24/7 Championship title five times and the CW Tag Team Championship for Celtic Wrestling.

In 2017, Andrews was announced as a participant in the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament. He defeated Dan Moloney in the first round and then on the second night, he beat Joseph Conners. Andrews advanced to the semi-finals where he was defeated by his long-rival, Pete Dunne.

Mark Andrews’ NXT Television Debut

On February 22, Andrews made his televised debut on NXT where he was defeated by Pete Dunne. Later that year in November, Andrews teamed with Cedric Alexander, defeating Joseph Conners and James Drake on 205 Live.

On the February 6, 2018, edition of 205 Live, Andrews announced that he would compete in the WWE Cruiserweight Championship tournament. He defeated Akira Tozawa in the first round but was eliminated after his loss to Drew Gulak in the second round. Mark Andrews has also competed on 205 Live, NXT, and NXT UK.

In 2019, at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff, Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster defeated The Grizzled Young Veterans to become the second ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions. On October 4, 2019, Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster were defeated by Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang) during the NXT UK taping. Their reign lasted 34 days.
