DANNY BURCH

Martin Harris is a 39-year-old professional wrestler from London, England. He is currently signed with the WWE and performs on NXT under the ring name, Danny Burch.

Harris’ Early Wrestling Career

Harris trained at Frontier Wrestling Academy from 2003 to 2004 and made his debut appearance under the ring name Joe Riot at FWA:A’s Revenge – Chapter IV in a losing effort to Leroy Kincaide on November 29, 2003. He then made his main roster appearance under the ring name, Martin Stone, in September 2004 and lost the match to Jack Xavier.

During his wrestling career with the FWA, Harris travelled all over the United Kingdom competing in several promotions including International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom, One Pro Wrestling, LDN Wrestling, Real Quality Wrestling. He won numerous top titles in these promotions most notably the IPW:UK Championship which he held for 15 months.

FWA Championship Reigns

Harris, alongside tag team partner Stixx, captured the FWA Tag Team Championships in June 2005. He was stripped of the title 16 months later after being unable to make a mandatory title defense on November 19, 2006, due to commitments with IPW:UK.

In late April 2007, Stone represented Real Quality Wrestling in the prestigious King of Europe Cup where he was defeated by Go Shiozaki in the first round. During this time, he competed in and won an RQW tournament at Not Just For Christmas to become RQW’s Heavyweight Champion. Stone defeated Iceman and Aviv Maayan in the first two rounds before defeating Pac in the final to win the vacant championship.

Harris’ Westside Xtreme Wrestling Sting

In 2007, Harris began wrestling for the German promotion, Westside Xtreme Wrestling. He won the wXw Tag Team Championship alongside Doug Williams when the pair beat AbLas (Absolute Andy and Steve Douglas) at wXw Broken Rulz VIII in Oberhause on July 26, 2008.

At the British Uproar event in Broxbourne in February 2010, he defeated Andy Simmonz in the tournament finals to become the first FWA World Heavyweight Champion. The following month at PW101 Unstoppable at The Hubs in Sheffield, he defeated 11 competitors in the 101 Championship Rush match to become Pro Wrestling 101’s first and only Heavyweight Champion.

Harris’ First WWE Contract

In late 2011, Harris signed a developmental contract with the WWE and reported to the company’s developmental territory in June 2012. He was assigned the ring name, Danny Burch and then made his televised debut for NXT Wrestling on the May 15th episode of NXT with a loss to Bray Wyatt.

WWE used Burch sporadically as enhancement talent but it was then reported on April 30, 2014, that he was released by WWE.

Harris Wrestles for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

Under his ring name, Martin Stone, Harris started wrestling for TNA in 2014 and appeared on the second season of TNA British Boot Camp.

In February 2015, Harris competed at the TNA One Night Only: Gut Check, where he defeated Jessie Godderz to qualify for the final match later that night. Harris then competed in a five-way elimination match where the winner of that match would earn an appearance on the next episode of Impact Wrestling. Harris was unsuccessful as the match was won by Tevita Fifita.

Harris Returns to WWE

Starting in July 2015, Harris began making sporadic appearances for WWE’s NXT. He was not re-signed with the company but continued to wrestle for NXT and lost several matches to such talent as Apollo Crews, Tye Dillinger, James Storm, and Tommaso Ciampa.

Burch competed in the 2017 WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament against 16 men but lost in the first round to Jordan Devlin.

Teaming with Oney Lorcan

Danny Burch, starting in August 2017, began feuding with Oney Lorcan and after trading victories, they went on to form a tag team and feuded with Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli.

Burch and Lorcan took part in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in early 2018, but were eliminated in the first round. On April 29, 2018, Danny Burch signed another full-time contract with the WWE. At NXT Takeover: Chicago, Burch and Lorcan faced The Undisputed Era in a losing match.

Danny Burch returned to NXT UK on January 30, 2020, with Oney Lorcan in a tag team match defeating The Hunt (Primate and Wild Boar). They failed to beat NXT UK Tag Team Champions Gallus in a non-title match in February. Burch and Lorcan challenged them for the NXT Tag Team Titles but were defeated by Breezango in a number one contender’s match.

Burch and Lorcan: NXT Tag Team Champions

On the October 21st episode of NXT, after Undisputed Era members Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong were taken out, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan replaced them in an NXT Tag Team Championship match. They won the titles by defeating Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) with help from Pat McAfee, turning heel for the first time since 2017.

On March 23, 2021, William Regal vacated the NXT Tag Team Championship after Danny Burch suffered a shoulder injury.
